Higuain, in high-pressure games, can be alone in front of an open goal and won't score.

PS: Costa Rica is getting pwned.

the ticos could really use a goal. If they lose with this scoreline (or worse) they rely on paraguay losing. On a two goal loss, a Mexico one goal win still gets them through.

Well, at this point there's no way Costa Rica would have a better record than Group C's third-place team. They could still make it if Brazil and Venezuela win on Wednesday, leaving Paraguay 3rd on 2 points. EDIT: then again, if Ecuador wins, Brazil would be stuck on 2 points as well. And if Ecuador and Brazil tie, then Ecuador would only have two points.

So more simply: Costa Rica needs Venezuela to win.

Where is that tico who was talking shit about conmebol after beating weak Bolivia? Good for Argentina. I really do hate to see a country who organized an event not advance in it.

Oh wow, I really wonder why you care so much to stir things up regardless of who it was. Seriously, wasn't Argentina expected to win today?

Basically, this is the part of the abusive relationship when the husband promises his wife that he will never beat her again. And then to celebrate, the husband takes her to the Oliver Garden to celebrate the new start. . . the abusive husband is the Argentinean team, and Costa Rica is the surft-n-turff special at the Oliver Garden.

    I'm holding out for Nobu.

Doesn't matter what Brazil does. All that matters is that Venezuela wins.

You're right. Actually the only good outcome for CR is a Venezuela victory.

    Actually it does,

If Brasil lose, Costa Rica is in so I think you should care.

Everyone is talking about the Venezuela game but Venezuela has much as a chance to beat Paraguay as Ecuador has of beating Brasil.

I think both Brasil and Paraguay should win, but again should is the key word, anything can happen and neither Ecuador nor Venezuela will be pushovers.

Brazil can win, lose or tie and it won't matter to the ticos if Venezuela still fails to defeat Paraguay.

dont get it twisted dude, CR is playing with a bunch of kids while Argentina has all the starters from the spanish league playing. Regardless of what Costa Rica does it doesn't change the fact that the perennial south american powerhouses have looked less than stellar in this tournament.

Second half was ridiculous... one team on the pitch. Funny that the one Higuain put in was called offside. Argentina doing what they wanted with the ball, and Messi... just a magical display of efficiency. Di Maria's finish on the 3rd was superb. Score should have been 5-0 or 6-0. Good thing the Ticos felt shame and started attacking in the 88th minute.

"11 chances were squandered in front of goal in the first half until the 45th minute. I pondered if we could be heading for another draw. I thought – “this cannot be, it’s only a matter of time, something has to give.” GOAL! Whew! A much needed goal. Costa Rican goalkeeper Leonel Moreira spilled the ball from a Fernando Gago volley and Aguero was in the right place to tuck the ball home. I went ballistic. The old Argentine couple in front of me threw their hands up. I could finally relax and enjoy the game now..... "
