Yes if they were trying make it easier for them to not give refunds if they don't play this season. Not every sports team operates that way. I see the Cosmos are crafty fellows.
A question from someon just cruising by, is the current front office of the NASL Cosmos the same as the team (I use the word loosely) that played the friendlies last year or was that a different group? If it is the same, seems like by now they would have their "stuff" together. Just a thougtht.
Very different groups it were After the Cosmos folded, the team's last general manager, G. Peppe Pinton, continued to run and operate the club's youth camps. The London Daily Mail reported in late August 2009 that Pinton had sold the name and image rights to Paul Kemsley, the former vice-chairman of English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, who headed a group intent on establishing a new Cosmos team in MLS. Pelé announced the club's return as the group's honorary president on August 1, 2010. The Cosmos' first match was on August 5, 2011, when they played against Manchester United at Old Trafford in Paul Scholes's testimonial match. The departure of Kemsley as chairman and CEO was announced by the Cosmos on October 26, 2011. His replacement was not immediately announced. A further press release on November 2 gave news of a company buyout by Seamus O'Brien and the Sela Group
Yeah, by Lotto this year instead of Umbro. Considering how excited alot of Rowdies fans are that we switched to ANYONE other than Lotto for the 2013 season (Admiral in our case, hoping we get some nice stuff) I think its funny that Orlando City for whatever reason chose to downgrade to Lotto. What gives there?
to me, these new Orlando kits are awesome but maybe you have another opinion (which I will respect of course)
I wasn't commenting on the look, but I sincerely hope the quality of the kits are higher than what Lotto provided the Rowdies the last three seasons. Even after providing a higher quality kit this past season, they were still pretty bad.
and now the PR Islanders imitating the NY Cosmos MIAMI, Fla. (December 21, 2012)– The Puerto Rico Islanders have informed the Board of Governors of the North American Soccer League (NASL) that it will not participate in the 2013 Spring Season.
Time for the league to quickly re-activate AC St. Louis or Baltimore as a league run team for the 2013 spring season or maybe getting a USL Pro team to jump ship to D2 will be easier after the possible impending USL Pro - MLS agreement!!!
CHENG JOINS COSMOS. Jen Chang, the former ESPN.com and SI.com soccer editor and more recently the Liverpool director of communications, has joined the NASL New York Cosmos as its director of communications and Marketing. He had left Liverpool amid controversy following a dispute with a Liverpool blogger.
"Slowly becoming" ? The Neo-Cosmos have looked like a Circus since they first announced they were "back" .
