No ticket service provider = no team. Simple as that, everyone stop with the THEY'RE SO BUSH LEAGUE and IT'S JUST A MARKETING CONSPIRACY crap.

Also, anyone suggesting the NASL changed their format just for the Cosmos, when the vote was unanimous among the owners, helps them bring in better lower tier foreign players during the summer transfer window, and eases the burden of scheduling both on players and the front office, is just someone who is looking for a reason to trash the Cosmos.

It was done to save the NASL owners and Traffic money. The NASL is going to get the same quality of lower tier foreign players that they would of before. The summer transfer window is meaningless.

So you are telling me in all the months the Cosmos had, they could not line up with a ticket provider? That is the only reason they are not ready? That doesn't give me much hope for their future success. Instead of telling us how they are going to be on tv and how this will spur a league wide tv contract(I am still laughing at that one) they should of worked on the more important things. You know, like getting the club ready for the start of the season.

This is what I want from Cosmos. Less talk about all the amazing things you are going to do. More action. Cause right now they are making FCNY look good. The Cosmos are trashing themselves.

That's the definition of bush league for me. Cosmos and NaSL are making FCNY look like the the most professional team in N.Y.C.

wait til you see the squad. I hope you know that the split-season points reset. So it will add excitement and anticipation after July transfer what will Cosmos bring too the table.

They've had since July 12th of this year, at minimum, to be prepared to play by the end of March of next year.

Bush league is exactly what all of this looks like.

Yeah, it'll be awesome with all the international talent that will flock to the second-division team playing at Hofstra. Including RONALDINHO!

Yes, it'll be exciting and awesome that a team that only plays half the season could win the Soccer Bowl. If USL did that you'd say it was....ridiculous. But it's an NASL innovation and will be exciting and add anticipation. You're such a homer fanboy. But not quite as much as....

I thought the Cosmos brand - known far and wide, even by EVERYBODY IN IRELAND WHO KNOWS KOLYN - would have ticket service providers flocking to them. Just like they're going to have international talent flocking to them during the summer transfer window.

Seems to me if you want to "ease the burden of scheduling both on players and the front office," you wouldn't set up a format that would require you to play 38 to 40 games in future years if you truly play everybody in a "fair" format.

And very few of us bash the Cosmos. We bash myopic fanboys like you, who think these Cosmos could be those Cosmos (which many of you never even saw play) and that the soccer world has just been waiting for the rebirth of your brand for the last 27 years so we could really have a soccer nation. As if this is your freaking birthright.

We don't hate the Cosmos. We hate you.

"He said that he did not want to field "a rubbish club in March with only 3,000 butts in the stands at Hofstra."

The fact they can't accept that both of these things are going to happen whether they start in spring or fall just shows you how out of touch these guys are with the reality that they're owners of a D2 side in America, not a European club and not an MLS side.

Not to mention he is basically insulting the entire league. Starting to think it might be better of these Cosmos just went away.

Well, I hope they're proud of D2 and D3 players along with washed up MLS players cause realistically thats what they're getting.

Could we be more melodramatic with the FCNY references? It's a setback, it's unfortunate, we move on. Negative comments on this thread from a Union fan, a Rowdies fan, an Earthquakes fan, a Revs fan, a Strikers fan and a guy who is negative about everything ... just to put things into perspective. Not exactly representative of the Cosmos fan base

Kenn I know you like touching yourself over facts so at least get them right. How hard is it for you to understand that I said everyone I talk to about American soccer. I never said everyone I know. I don't go around talking to everyone I know about American soccer. And regardless of what YOU may think about WSW, saying everyone hates him is just another example of you being a nasty old know-it-all.

Most of these comments just shows how pathetic the fanbase in America really is.

It's all a business we know this if it doesn't work than fold....the American way.

    yay for fans.....

I don't know much about the situation, but it seems like their business plan isn't panning out like they thought. From what I have read, they look to be focusing on the future and not the present.

To me I think they should wait until 2014 to play. Come in with Ottawa and Virginia.
I don't think it's fair for the other teams to be playing from the begining of the 2013 season with the possiblity of their players getting hurt or what have you.

Realistically, I don't see how US Soccer can allow this to happen. Especially with how hard-assed they've handled the NASL in the past.

I don't think a waiver is going to work in this instance. We're talking about somebody who only wants to play half a season. Nobody operates that way by design.

I agree. You can't hold the actions of the Kemsley ara against the O'Brien group. But you can certainly have a mountain of questions about the O'Brien group. I do.

Something I just thought of: most teams have been selling season ticket packages for 16 home games. With the Cosmos only playing the second half that makes it 15 home games. Teams will have to make one of those tickets a Open Cup or friendly game now. And both of those options(a cup game vs. a PDL or NPSL side, or a friendly vs BK Häcken or something) probably have much less appeal for fans than a game vs. the New York Cosmos would(even a watered down D2 half ass Cosmos).
