At least he has a great name.

After the MLS Re-Entry draft, SBI soccer website joked that the Cosmos were calling Kevin Hartman to see if he wanted to live in NYC. That would be a awesome signing for them.

So they gave up on Kevin Hartman already?

I'd be willing to give some credence to these reports if they contained actual quotes from the players themselves as opposed to hearsay from a 'source'. Remember that other reliable source who stated that Beckham was interested in the Cosmos? o_O

Wake me up when they actually sign someone.

True, but Big Apple Soccer is a good source normally. And please wake up, Carlos Mendes did actually sign. Of course he has 9 months to prepare.

Seems to me a pretty bogus report filled with BS 'quotes'....unless Diego is a complete idiot.

No way a player says this:

"If it was another team out of MLS Diego would not be very interested now, but Cosmos is another thing and so would be willing to return to the United States," the source told Goal.com

The piece also attributed the Cosmos 'history' as a draw. They have no history. They also have no plans to start next season.

I really do love the NASL but this ridiculous and willful denial of facts that these Rowdies, Strikers, Cosmos, etc. are not even remotely connected to the old NASL is just so tiresome.

maybe he feels he's not good enough for MLS, but he might have a chance at D2 level ;)

Actually, the quote says "if it was another team OUTSIDE of MLS, he would not be interested, but the Cosmos is another thing so he'd be willing to return to the US". That means if it was a team NOT in MLS (aka USL or NASL) other than the Cosmos, he would not consider it. Implying he would (obviously) be interested in an MLS club.

And as much as people love to hate on the Cosmos, that shirt and name do have history, plus the team has 2 things that appeal to any player: 1. Money (or the appearance that they have money) 2. Location.

It isn't a given. Maybe he is busy scouting La Liga to see who is available during the summer transfer window. :D

Former Premier League player Pascal Chimbonda who will be at the 2013 NASL combine? Or will Minnesota scoop him up?

i predicted two or three years ago that Freddy Adu would be the new Cosmos' first signing.
i wonder what kind of a fee MLS would ask for him these days? Freddy Adu and Robbie Rogers would tear up the NASL methinks... throw in Ronaldinho Gaucho and we're golden

If Cosmos sign Rogers and/or Adu it's a sign their careers are over and so are the Cosmos.

Adu has a $500k contract still, Rogers was released so he is a free agent (outside MLS). A loan would be the only thing that makes sense.

New York - The New York Cosmos announced that they will host an invitation-only player combine in mid February. The selected few will join the ranks of Werner Roth, Shep Messing, Roberto Cabanas, Giorgio Chinaglia and Pelé as Cosmos players.
Anyone who believes they have the skills to be part of Gio Savarese and the 2013 New York Cosmos as they make their NASL return must register Online.
