You're right - anything can happen. I respect your team. My SPFC and your team had a battle in the 2012 Copa Sul-Americana, and you guys were tough opponents. In Argentina, Newell's Old Boys will be a very difficult team to beat, but they're not unbeatable. They are talented and experienced, but so is Atlético Nacional, and remember: Grêmio did not defeat Newell's in this Libertadores, whereas Atlético Nacional did. Your team needs the win more than Newell's does, but if your team scores first, Newell's will have to go on the attack - opening spaces, and yours is a team with fast athletes. Good luck. I will not be surprised at all if Atlético Nacional reaches the round of 16.
Not buying any CFs really killed this team. Sadly no Colombian team will make it out of group stages after the screw job Nacional got with the 30 second red card from Dracula
Crazy things happen in the Libertadores though. Remember Caldas looked like they had no chance a few years ago and found ways to get points on the road under Osorio. Of course the forwards were way better than Nacional's...
You are burried us too soon. The whole team is in bad form, not just the strikers. We have good strikers and we have good players but you cannot play in the same good level all the time. Plus don't forget that it was the toughest group. Even Nacional Montevideo, who is the weakest in this group, isn't such an easy team to beat. I think that Nacional, Newell's and Gremio are pretty much in the same level but one has to stay out. We still have our destiny in our hand and that's a good thing. Sure it'll be super difficult to beat NOB away, but with all due respect, it's NOB, not Real Madrid.
Once Caldas is like Korea, Japan and the US NTs. Not the best teams or players but are work horses that play very well together and are real organized. Nacional and Santa Fe are teams of little premadonnas. For a Colombian team to go far again it is going to be a small team like Cucutas run a couple years back until the ref screwed us by making Cucuta play in fog.
Well, it all basically comes down to win and you are in for all the Colombian teams this week. After all the mediocre play and crap being thrown at them they all basically have their destiny in their hands going into the final match day of the Group stage. Technically Santa Fe needs a tiny bit of help... ... but as long as they win and Zamora does not win or score a bunch of goals in Brazil they will be through.
One thing that makes me confident in Cali and Santa Fe is that historically Colombian teams usually win in Paraguay during Group Stage matches. I don't know why that is... ... but Colombian teams seem to do well there.
Nestor camacho will score. Then win the copa libertadores and sign Alan pulido from tigres, Mario yepes, Carlos Sanchez, rodallega.
Cali let 2 weak ass goals go in before the pk. The game was lost before that play as well. Cali just can't close. I was really happy when they went 1-0 but then just emploded
It turned out to be such an even group but the two best teams found a way to advance. Deportivo Cali did not deserve to go on.
Were either of the goals Mondragons fault? In the 1st one he didn't even move. I don't think he moved in the 2nd one either. The PK was annoying because it was made by a veteran. You can excuse a youth player for doing that kinder kicker move but not a guy with his experience. Sadly no Colombian team will make it out of group stage.
Nacional brings some honor to Colombia by getting the job done in Argentina while Santa Fe and Cali's Swiss cheese defenses folded in Paraguay. Osorio's team once again finds a way to do it on the road. I am so glad that Dracula call did not bite them in the butt and keep them out of the knockout rounds.
It should be a lot of fun. And I hate to look ahead but that side of the bracket is there for the taking. Nacional just has to score some goals and make the best of their opportunities.
