Wait a minute! Daftness does get better than that. Especially when Argentines think they can "sensationally humble" and "school" Brazilians after Brazil beat them with inexperienced youngsters. And people thought all humans were smarter than animals!

Right. About the game I really think Adriano has EARNED his opportunity to be a part of the Brazilian A team, if they could only figure out a way to get him, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka' on the pitch together it would be a monsterous attack. I don't think Fabiano is ready yet but has shown promise. Juan and Luisao (hopefully he is ok) had a very good tourney as well. Alex showed his class the last couple of games and will undoubtingly be in Brazil's plans for the future. I don't think any other players impressed that much for Brazil, but who knows what the coach has planned. On a side note does anyone know why Mancini didn't get any playing time, he has impressed in Roma and would have thought he would be getting some looks on the selecao soon.

Btw ... here is the video with Parreira's remarks after the game.

Oh funny, your Azzuri hasn't tasted any sort of tournament success in over 2 decades and now all you can do is resort to celebrating other teams' triumphs, lol. :)

All this malicious trash talking from Brazil's Supporters is discouraging.
You won. Congratulations, it was a very emotive match. You really make your win look worse by being such poor winners.

Especially since most of the people celebrating Brazil's win so horridly are the people who wanted to see Argentina lose because of some petty grudge against our country.

Argentina played extremely well, and it was only a major slip-up in the very last seconds of the match that allowed Brazil to take the cup home.

Why won't you at least give us the credit of having given you hell of a scary run for your money? Is it shameful to admit your rival was almost too powerful for you to defeat?

Congratulations on your 7th copa america win, Brazil. I wish I could say some of your fans and other "well-wishers" deserved to share in your glory today.

Argentina brought their A team. Zanetti? D'Allesandro? Gonzalez?

Brazil deserved this. They obviously were outplayed for much of the match, but they hanged in there. The PK was somewhat questionable. The 2nd Argentina goal came right after Luisao was forced to leave. Adriano scored that late goal which proved that soccer is a 90 minute sport.

Brazil needs a replacement for Cafu for the future and not a right midfielder. Maicon is more suited to that position than Mancini, who is more of a midfielder.

Yeah your right in that assessment, I don't take anything away from Maicon because he did play very well.

I watched the game as a neutral fan and I will remember it as a great final.

For all the Argies: there's no doubt that Argentina had the better run of play, but it wasn't as overwhelming as some of you would like to believe. Brazil was indeed the winner, although they needed the PK lottery to win it.

I would have been happy to see Delgado's goal be the game winner since I prefer games won in regulation rather than PKs, but Adriano's finish and the ensuing PKs made this final one that will be remembered for the ages.

Argentina seemed to be doing a very good job of killing off the final few minutes, keeping the ball in Brazil's end and smarlty wasting time with short corners and throws. The fact that Univision lost track of the amount of stoppage time awarded made the end seem even more agonizing. Brazil wasn't able to get any offensive posession until after the final timewasting substitution replaced Tevez with Quiroga.

It was then too late for any possession-style elegant buildup so Brazil just lobbed some Hail Mary passes into the Argentine penalty area. The first was headed back to Diego who punted it back to the area. The inability to clear that descending lob was what killed Argentina. It looked to me like Coloccini headed the ball downward and off the back of Ayala's head but Luis Fabiano may have managed to get a touch to it in the crowd. Either way it seemed to bounce towards Adriano more out of luck than design as Facundo Quiroga tried to clear it with a windmilling karate-style kick. By the time Quiroga's foot touched down Adriano had already turned and tucked his hard shot inside the post. On the last play of the game.

An amazing finish that, coupled with the PK results, was the most dramatic reversal of fortune in a major final I can recall since Bayern Munich lost to Man U in the Champions League final several years ago.

I'm sure Argentina is bitter but the future continues to look bright for both countries with so much young talent continuing to surface. The game did feature a good bit of newer faces for both sides but I think many of you are overemphasizing that fact. In today's environment of so many top players in Europe and Conmebol's "todos contra todos" World Cup qualifying format these were excellent squads and they did their countries proud.

For the sake of comparison I looked up the rosters that Argentina and Brazil have used in World Cup qualifying at
    http://www.rsssf.com/tables/2006q-det.html

16 of the 21 Argentines on my roster (I think someone may have been added) appeared in WC qualifiers in the past year: Pablo Cavallero, Heinze, Ayala, Clemente Rodriguez, Quiroga, Zanetti, Placente, Sorin, Kily Gonzalez, D'Alessandro, Mascherano, Lucho Gonzalez, Saviola, Delgado, Tevez, and Rosales.

For Brazil 7 of the 22 players listed have played in the past year's WCQs:
Juan, Renato, Edu, Diego, Julio Baptista, Alex and Luis Fabiano.

I have a feeling Parreira will find a way to get Adriano into the lineup even if Ronaldo starts shooting goals out of his rear end in Madrid.

Great final and I'm glad I watched it.

Oh c'mon Argentina fans, this is a lot more than Brazil's "b" team. Ayala, Zanetti, Sorin & Gonzalez have all played in several important International matches before. Ayala & Zanetti combined probably has more Int'l caps than this Brazil side combined. And also for their club sides too. There was a lot of experience on the Argentine side. Brazil's oldest player was Alex at 27. Brazil should be given a lot of credit. There was no veteran pressence to assure the team victory when the going got rough. CAP just looked at his roster and called up whomever to play together. It was hard to gain cohessiveness with such inexperienced players. Hardly any time to gain familiarity of playing amongst one another. That Adriano thrived under these circumstances shows what a special player he is.
