I wonder if the 36 that voted for Argentina to be the champions still think thats possible.

The refs and CONMEBOL can't even cheat the way Argentina's been horribly playing. It would become too obvious :D

I know the play in the first round is always forgotten at the end, but so far the team with the least votes is playing the best football.

I think soccer in south america, in terms of national team and domestic league, will be pretty much in equal footing between countries in 10 year tops. If you think about it, countries in SA with the exception of Venezuela, consider football to be the national sport. I know most guys will enjoy their pichanga at least 2-3x a week..So in terms of fanbase and potential talent; we have it. Practically every guy in SA loves it regardless of their nationality. The only difference imo that has kept some countries from aggressively competing with Argentina and Brazil in the national stage was their league infrastructure. Brazil and Argentina, and Uruguay, have kept a solid system of forming professional footballers that have fundamentally thrived overseas and in its domestic league, whereas in the past countries like Peru, Colombia, n ecuador weren't able to replicate that formula due to either corruption and national crises.

But that is now becoming a thing of the past...It's not gonna be easy for argies and brazilians to stroll on over to the world cup.

It has never been easy for any team in CONMEBOL. Brazil and Argentina generally do not stroll over to the World Cup. Argentina didn't qualify for 2010 until the 85th minute of their last game, and to even be in that position they needed a desperate injury time Martin Palermo strike in the previous game against last place Peru at Monumental. Brazil almost didn't make it to 2002. Both of them have woeful WCQ records in the thin air La Paz and Quito.

Non South Americans just don't realize how competitive our confederation is.

U forget to add that in the 90th minute Vargas hit the crossbar after the Palermo goal, THAT would of been something ( if it had gonein)
