I know you will not care, but I feel the need to log about a game of FIFA 98 I just played.

A few days ago I decided to try and qualify for the World Cup in FIFA 98 with the Cook Islands. It was tough, but I was able to do it on a couple of outstanding games from my keeper. I figured that the dream would end there, but after being put in a weak group I, along with Portugal advanced to the elimination round where I managed to get an easy draw. I beat the USA, Qatar (?!?!?) and Belgium to advance to the final where I met Brazil. This brings me to why I posted this, as I played the FIFA 98 game of my life (I am now ready to challenge anyone and everyone).

I thought the game started well, when I traded a yellow card for knocking Romario out of the game. I was wrong. Despite that, Ronaldo, Luis and someone else all tallied goals by the 24th minute for a 3-0 lead.

In the 40th minute, the same player with a yellow was carded off the field putting my deficit at 3-0 and a man down. I got a nice counter attack that yielded a corner and in injury time I converted the corner to "only" be down 3-1.

After not mounting any sort of attack in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half, I subbed out 3 of my 5 completely fatigued guys to try and mount a comeback (desperation). Moments later I got another red card and was now playing 2 down. To counter this I moved one of my defender to DM and my AM up to forward, and on a counter attack found the back of the net to close to a one goal deficit.

This is where it got weird. Brazil gets a red to go to 10 men. Then Brazil gets a yellow but injures one of my players (who I cannot sub for or even get him off the field), so now with 8 men I press on. In the 80th minute, I go to a 3-2-3 formation, and attack attack attack. Finally on my 4th shot on goal I tie the game in the 88th minute. In injury time, the same Brazil player injures another one of my players and gets a red.

So in golden goal time, I have 9 players and Brazil has 9 players; however, I have 2 players injured and they can do nothing. I decide to play for penalties and go with a 2-2-4 formation with both of my injured guys at forward so I can bunker down. Of course, Ronaldo hits a shot from 35 yards out (in typical FIFA 98 fashion) to win the world cup in the 108th minute.

Despite the loss, it was the greatest game of FIFA 98 I have ever played.

God be with you, if you read this.

I do not have it, unless you left it in my car. If that is the case I might have it. I will take my 64 to MLS cup and South Korea will go down.

He started in the round of 16 as the USA fell!

I would have left it in the car, so i did not have to trade it.

I lose so much of my soccer shit. I only have three orange shirts left.

    Similar experience:

I was playing as Belize in FIFA World Cup 2010. I managed to somehow make it to the hex. In the hex I lost every single game. Twice. Why twice, you ask? I tried it again by starting over and it happened, again.

It is way easier to take one of the crappy oceanic teams to the World Cup since they are very similarly terrible and then you just need to beat New Zealand and get lucky in the playoff series.

Also FIFA 2010 and FIFA 98 are way different. In FIFA 98 you could put 30 meter shots on frame like it was your job. So all you had to do was get the ball somewhat close and then fire away, eventually you would get one. Some players (Brazils entire team and Eric Wynalda) seemed to do it every other time.
