Just curious, why would you name something after Irish settlers who deserted the American Army in the Mexican-American War to fight for Mexico?

We are a new supporters group for Chivas USA and the MLS. We have no agenda. We have no intentions of replacing or showing up the Legion. Period.We are not a political group. Not even close.We are a group that wants to create a more diverse, multicultural atmosphere that incorporates more English chants and songs.We hate the Galaxy. We love Chivas USA! the end

El Batallon de San Patricio have some sort of hero status in Mexico, after all they helped on the mexican side.

As for the why of their desertion, its a well known fact that Irish immigrants were despised and mistreated when they first came to America, that treatment follow in the army also, plus J. Shaara in his book about the Mexican American war cites religion as a factor, aparently the San Patricios considered a wrong to fight for a protestant country against a catholic one.

Would you be doing anything special for the Clasico? Are you guys siting next to La Legion?

They were actually two sections over from us. Thanks to Beckhamania our section was sold out but we did our best to stake a claim. We ended up moving upstairs and found a proper staging area. We did a good job of getting the fans to interact.

Do not worry, we are here to stay. We are growing each day through better orgainzation and communication with the front office. From this time on you can count on seeing us where we belong.

Congratulations, back in 2005 I thought this would be a great idea of organizing an english speaking supporters group using the San Patricios name, but living on the east coast I figured people would think I was crazy. It's nice to see great minds think alike. Maybe I could help organize the Boston "Chapter".
