Not to derail a congratulatory thread about our well-deserving captain, but my initial reaction to seeing Robbie up there was a surprise. Considering his poor luck with injuries, it's easy to forget he has scored an absolutely tremendous amount of goals for us. The lad scored his 100th goal for Liverpool when he was still 21. Twenty-one! Makes me tear up a little just thinking about it and what might have been.

I'm delighted that we look to be in the CL places this season, frankly a year ahead of my expectations. I've resisted any inclination to consider the league title a possibility this season - bad karma; how blinkered a fanatic an you get? But it's beginning to be all about Gerrard for me now. Yes, what a great achievement it would be for him, an achievement we never thought possible even six months ago. Tough going emotionally for me now. Would love for him to raise that final trophy for his career. What a Scouser.
