Indeed - wonder whether Sockers and Magic will push through at u14 Boys. SHOULD BE INTERESTING! If I had not missed 2 days last week for a family emergency I would be heading up there to watch that game!

Magic vs Sockers at U14 Boys final and Fire Jrs vs Sockers at U15 Boys final. That's nice for the clubs, area and state. U13 Magic boys also made it to the final. I'm hearing all these teams are playing some good soccer up there.

On the girls side, Eclipse Select is doing quite well too - playing in the finals at U13, U14 and U15. Their U16s and U18s got unlucky - both finished even on points with other team in their respective groups. I know the 16s lost on PKs and didn't make the semis - I heard they were playing good soccer though. But what happened with their 18s is a mystery to me, as they have better GD than the other team level on points with them in the group (Eclipse GD = 13-3, other team GD = 12-3). WTF?

I've heard that the U13 Eclipse girls are impressing many, especially their forward ZR, who is scoring like a beast. 15s won against Sockers in the semis - I heard it was a good game.

Anyway, does anyone have any direct observations about the Chicago clubs' boys and girls teams there? Also how are all the teams in the whole Region playing?

I think Illinois is has put 10 teams into the finals. The big news is that the Fire 15 as much as I hate the way they play if they get thru they have to go down as one of the more dominate teams in Ilinois youth soccer. I hope they do it so that my son can say see i told you so. lol

Also would love to see the u14 final both very good teams

Go Illinois we seem to get the shaft when it comes to individaul talent . But I think our teams are the best teams in the Nation

Are you talking currently...or ever? Currently, I would agree, EVER, not even in the ball park. They would need to keep being a top team for 3 more years before they are in the discussion for an all time top team from the state.

Well they will not have the chance to do that because the way the Academy System is setup. But if and I say if they get thru the region and go on to win the National Championship. I would have to place them up towards the top. Just my opinion that is it.

If they win regionals again then they will have to be considered one of the best Illinois sides ever. Very few Illinois boys teams have won back-to back regional titles. Heck only a handful on boys teams have ever won nationals

best Illinois side ever? thats a bit of a stretch. dont think theyre quite on the level of, say, Chicago Magic 87-88?

Yes, that was a very good team along with a handful of others. If this team wins regional again, it will be one of few, if any, Illinois teams to win it back to back.

Fire Boys U-19 take regionals with 3-0 win. Some of the players on that team were on the Magic 91/92 team that won regionals at U13. Nice set of bookends

a few big stories in this regions
    1. Fire 15B goes back to back
2.Magic looks like they are coming back as a young power
3.Eclipse Girls Make a statement at the younger ages
4.Nice to see the Sockers girls come thru
5 After 15 the region is watered down because of the Academies. (Still Nice soccer being played)

Illinois wins all age groups that are not watered down by the academy, 13/14/15(a few players are gone but overall most kids are still in it at this age)/19. And win U13/14/15/17 girls. Heck of a week for Illinois.

They did but USYSA Region II Championships only gives maximum credit of +4 GD per game. Pretty stupid rule for competition amongst State Champions. So Eclipse 18's and Mockingbirds (KY) tied in points (7), tied head to head 2-2, "tied" in goal differential (+8), and tied in goals allowed (3). No tiebreaker for goals scored (and I thought we want to develop players/teams that can score goals). The final tiebreaker is PK's. They went to PK's following both teams final game. PK's went to the sixth kicker. Controversy after Mockingbirds' fifth kick. Hit the crossbar, went straight down than out. PK taker turned and started crying, Eclipse GK, fans celebrating... AR raises his flag to indicate that it went in. Review of videotape shows highly unlikely that the entire ball went across the entire line. This was nothing like England's non-goal call vs. Germany in WC 2010.

More specifically, heck of a week for the Chicagoland clubs.

Ouch, what a heartbreaker! Wow, that is such a stupid rule at Regionals - not giving advantage to the team that scored more goals. But amazingly they had a video to review the PK? Did Rory kill the AR who raised his flag? LOL

Watch the video for the surf cup, and tell me who number 54 is. He is a player! My son's team lost to this Magic team in the Semi-finals at regionals. #54 in the video was wearing #98 and he scored all 4 goals for the Magic. Is this kid on the National Team? Like I said, he is a GREAT player. Where is he from. When we played this same Magic team in March, we beat them 1-0 and this kid didn't play. Anyway, I am just trying to figure out who he is, I would like to watch his career. He could be playing for the National team someday!

I believe he's the kid from New Jersey. Probably helps explain why he wasn't their when you played them in March.
