CONCACAF Rankings Thread

MLS made a mistake there. They said that Costa Rica is at El Salvador and El Salvador is at Costa Rica on Friday. The game is at Costa Rica.

 

The fact that the article`s title even has to ask is insulting.....we own this shit at every freaking level, club and nt!!!!!!!!!!

and we are not just proving it at the Concacaf stage...but on the world stage as well

 

only went up 1 spot in the fifa rankings.....guess playing Copa America with a U-22 minus 8 squad is still hurting. Damn or else we might be a top 10 squad right now!!!.....and deservingly so

Seems like a long time ago the US were in the top 10. Canada are looking good to push on from here with last night's win, and the results from several years ago that will no longer be considered when the next rankings are published were poor.

Haiti, Canada, Guatemala, Curacao, Barbados, Dominica, and Montserrat moved up 10 or more spots. El Salvador and Bermuda fell 10 or more spots.

 

Dominican Republic entered the Top 100 for the first time.

Cuba was 64th in March 2011, down to 150th in July 2012, and up 41 spots this month to 100th. Bermuda fell 22 spots and Belize fell 23 spots. Montserrat is up 9 spots to 174th which is their best ever ranking.s

When was the last time Haiti made the gold cup or the Hex?

Why do they rank so high?

 

Haiti finished third in the 2012 Caribbean Cup. In the most recent year (the year that is weighted the most in the FIFA Rankings), Haiti has 431.75 points, which is more than the Netherlands, and the Netherlands is 8th in the world.

 

I look only at the rankings of teams within Concacaf (i.e. from 1 to 35); most Concacaf teams don't play teams outside of the confederation. (You could take that point one further, saying that most of teams in the Carribean don't play outside their regional.)

Those are correct. Dominican Republic are 11th in CONCACAF and at an all-time high of 90th.

Another way to look at the data: Points gained/lost in 2013. (I like to look at points, not positions.) Yes, it makes Mexico look bad, but that wasn't my point. I had thought that there was no way for the USA to make up the 212-point difference coming into this year, but now it is down to 15. (I added whether a team is in the hexagonal and Gold Cup, to see which positions are most likey to gain/lose points this year, and Mexico is already one-loss in the GC.) BTW, do Martinique matches count now?
