MLS made a mistake there. They said that Costa Rica is at El Salvador and El Salvador is at Costa Rica on Friday. The game is at Costa Rica.
The fact that the article`s title even has to ask is insulting.....we own this shit at every freaking level, club and nt!!!!!!!!!! and we are not just proving it at the Concacaf stage...but on the world stage as well
only went up 1 spot in the fifa rankings.....guess playing Copa America with a U-22 minus 8 squad is still hurting. Damn or else we might be a top 10 squad right now!!!.....and deservingly so

Seems like a long time ago the US were in the top 10. Canada are looking good to push on from here with last night's win, and the results from several years ago that will no longer be considered when the next rankings are published were poor.

Haiti finished third in the 2012 Caribbean Cup. In the most recent year (the year that is weighted the most in the FIFA Rankings), Haiti has 431.75 points, which is more than the Netherlands, and the Netherlands is 8th in the world.
I look only at the rankings of teams within Concacaf (i.e. from 1 to 35); most Concacaf teams don't play teams outside of the confederation. (You could take that point one further, saying that most of teams in the Carribean don't play outside their regional.) Here is the chart of rankings within Concacaf since January-2012. (I was thinking of extending this chart back to WC 2010.) The countries are listed by FIFA's three-letter designations (in the order of the most-recent rankings): MEX Mexico USA USA HAI Haiti PAN Panama JAM Jamaica HON Honduras CAN Canada CRC Costa Rica TRI Trinidad and Tobago GUA Guatemala CUB Cuba DOM Dominican Republic SLV El Salvador SUR Suriname ATG Antigua and Barbuda SKN St. Kitts and Nevis GUY Guyana VIN St. Vincent and the Grenadines PUR Puerto Rico GRN Grenada BRB Barbados NCA Nicaragua LCA St. Lucia ARU Aruba BER Bermuda DMA Dominica BLZ Belize BAH Bahamas MSR Montserrat CUW Curaçao VIR US Virgin Islands VGB British Virgin Islands CAY Cayman Islands AIA Anguilla TCA Turks and Caicos Islands

Mexico 22. USA (best ranking in 2 years 2 months) 39. Costa Rica (best ranking in 3 years 10 months) 51. Panama (third worst mover of all FIFA teams in the top 50, -8 spots) 55. Honduras 69. LMAO Are we still not Olympic Champions, U-17 world champions, still the best in the U-20`s in Concamex? Didn`t the mighty LA galacticos bow before the might of mexican football........a mexican club is going to the World Cup no? Things haven`t changed that much lol
We are talking about the Senior National Team here. Congrats that the Mexico program is doing well in those other tournaments though.

Another way to look at the data: Points gained/lost in 2013. (I like to look at points, not positions.) Yes, it makes Mexico look bad, but that wasn't my point. I had thought that there was no way for the USA to make up the 212-point difference coming into this year, but now it is down to 15. (I added whether a team is in the hexagonal and Gold Cup, to see which positions are most likey to gain/lose points this year, and Mexico is already one-loss in the GC.) BTW, do Martinique matches count now? oops.... in the last table, I have the headers for "gold" (cup) and "hex" switched. The team listings are correct, just the two headers are off.
Martinique matches do not count, so for FIFA Ranking purposes Canada hasn't played a Gold Cup game yet.
