The formation of the Indian Premier League is due to create some controversy within the cricketing community, in Australia and abroad.

Sure, it's only a Twenty20 league, but a lot of stars have been threatened with blackballing (or something close to it) if they sign for this tournament that is scheduled to take place in April and May, 2008.

So what is it? A chance to advance the Twenty20 code? A threat to the traditional game? Or something different altogether?

I think that it is just going to be seen as another cricket competition. Good on them.

it seems to me that the IPL has found its spot in the cricket calendar now. The ICC seems to have been swayed by its Inidan members (and money) ;)
