You'd have to think the uncertainty with no air date during filming had to weigh heavily on all aspects of the show. It definitely hasn't been as confident as the second season.

That said, I think it was getting back into a groove last night. The Subway conspiracy (is this weird, obvious, but not positive product placement like the KFC shuttle thing?) and the epic fort war should hopefully result in a fun two-parter like the paintball episodes last year.

The C storyline with Jeff and Annie was pretty weak, though, and will it return in the second part since it is seemingly resolved? I'm trying to think back to an episode that split the group into three storylines effectively.

Subway product placement just reminded me of Chuck's final season. KOD?

I believe it was their final two seasons?

And it is amusing to see another NBC show that is struggling for survival embrace Subway product placement. :D

Subway is all over the place with these things the past year or so. The Chuck thing. Cougar Town did it. Hawaii Five-O did it. Now Community.

If Hawaii Five-O were on any other network it would have been canceled by now.

I thought the last couple episodes were excellent - especially the most recent. I hope they can keep up the quality, but this show is definitely back in form.

They've definitely toned down the "meta-referencing how meta and self-referential we are." Instead they've gone back to being meta about self-referential television.

It's a breath of fresh air, IMHO. This last episode was fantastic.

I see Nathan Fillion is a huge fan of the show. Would it be too obvious for him to cameo as Mal Reynolds in Abed's dreamatorium? :D

Obvious or not, it would give me a TV-gasm...

It was only a matter of time... It's amazing how that guy hasn't changed an inkling since the 1980s.

Unfortunately, I know plenty of people who haven't changed since high school.

This recent interview with Chase, doesn't sound like someone who's staying with the show much longer... especially in this part:

While for the most part Chevy just comes off as not getting the show's humor and being the kind of abrasive personality he by many accounts is - I do feel there is validity to one point he makes:

I've enjoyed this season, although a little less than season 2 and much of season 1, but they really have moved away from the community college setting more this season. I don't really mind the shift as long as the episodes are good, but I can see where people would be bothered by it.

I agree the community college part has really gone south. It was a two-year community college not a four-year university with dorms. I'm pretty sure even in this thread there have been debates about the directions of characters and especially Pierce.

    Amazing episode.

Sure it kind of excluded some of the cast, but it was REALLY well done.

As soon as it began as "Civil War," I was hooked. I really enjoyed the episode. The narration was great. Using social media status updates messages was perfect. I wish they would bring back The Cape just for the sake of Community. While we always knew how the episode would end, I liked the part at the end with Jeff actually going to get the hats while Annie assumed he just took extra time as an added touch.

As an aside, I found myself playing "Ashokan Farewell" on the violin during commercial breaks.

I think I laughed hardest at the "Changlorious basterds". :D

It was amusing to hear Keith David do the voice over to the documentary this soon after finishing Mass Effect 3.
