It would have to be the year before the world cup.

copa American and gold cups are played the year after.

What we're suggesting is getting rid of the individual tournaments in favour of one joint tournament. Held once every 4 years.

Finally after reflexion, i think it will not happen. Why? Because FIFA is divided into six confederations : UEFA, CONMEBOL, CAF, ACF, OCF and...CONCACAF.
Remember that FIFA organizes every four years the Confederations'cup and the World Cup.

Regarding the case of Guadeloupe, France is ready to make an autonomous country. So i think Guadeloupe will get chance to compete in a World Cup qualifying one day.

Comnebol's press secretary says that COMNEBOL wants a 16 team Copa America for Brazil 2015: 10 COMNEBOL teams + 6 CONCACAF teams. It sounds like they haven't talked to CONCACAF about it yet.

He uses the term "6 invited CONCACAF teams" so it sounds like they want to choose the CONCACAF teams and not have a formal qualification process. They probably anticipate there still being a Gold Cup as well that year.

Yeah, the way Mexico and Costa Rica's U-23 teams were absolutely dominated in all of their games.

You've got this wrong. Conembol wants a 16 or 18 team tournament hosted in the US or Mexico with 6 or 8 CONCACAF teams for Conembol's 100th anniversary. they are also debating inviting the US or Japan to the 2015 tournament.

Would have to be all 10 from South America. Does not make an awful lot of sense to leave out such a massive market like Peru and have T&T in there.

In the Americas, the South holds sway. Any new Copa would have to include all South American countries, and then the best 6 from CONCACAF. That would be pretty good though. Assuming Canada comes good, you've got 3 new monstrous and rich nations in Canada, USA and Mexico; plus another 3 central American/Caribbean nations and you've got yourself some tournament.

Re: Japan in Copa. Absolute disgrace. Japan should be ashamed of themselves for ever accepting such an invitation. Mockery for what is the premier international cup competition in South America.

    What????

You do not think a country would want to play in copa America, if they are invited why not?

Japanese soccer fans love everything Brazil, I am sure their fans love when their NT plays in the Copa.
