Everyone (myself included) on this board was ready to bury the Quakes 10 minutes ago. Reminds me of the 1980 Cleveland Browns Cardiac Kids! Incredible!

So...what does Frank have to say to make this team think it's the 80th minute in the first minute?

I call that stealing 3 points on the road. We'll take 'em. Soft PK. Would have gone against us last year. That's the difference this year. Good mojo.

On second thought, I take this back. Because every time someone is on the cover of the Quakes program, that person gets hurt. So forget I ever mentioned Alan Gordon Night.

Picken's had a number of great saves, so I was thinking Colorado was going to steal a full 3. Then the 80th minute came around, and we end up stealing 3. Soccer is a funny game, but 3 points in a Rocky Mountain doubleheader on the road is a good trip, so we are playing with house money this weekend.

I guess San Jose really doesn't ever need to score first.

They've got to lead the league in most points earned after falling behind. I would seriously like to see a shutout, though.

Yeah, this win isn't feeling that great because of the soft PK and the 1st goal was scored with a Colorado man down. But overall I think it was an even game, and I'd even say the Quakes were a bit better, despite the Colorado broadcasters incessant claims that Colorado controlled the game (just not true). So I don't think the result was unfair given how the game flowed.

For those of you who don't get what Dawkins brings to the table, and don't think he can pass, please review the play that led to the PK.

Age + athletic ability. I know it's not fashionable to point to athletic ability in the context of soccer but it matters. If you can develop the soccer smarts and experience along with it, you've got something special. And remember, the guy has probably barely played one full season due to long periods of injury. Sometimes you have to possibly take some short term lumps to win in the long term, and think that's what it's going to take with Ike. He will make mistakes, but when he develops experience he's going to very good.

First of all, the Colorado guys were down all night. You darn right we should have played on when Raviro went down. What did they do when Hernandez went down?

Second of all....I'll take the 3 points on the "soft" pk after all of the calls we had against us in the 1st half.

    Finally...3 more points for us.

If we could shave a small piece of Gordon's leg off, shave a small piece of Opara's leg and add....er....splice the former with Opara...

I don't necessarily disagree. Unfortunately for Ike, this team is in a good position to make it to the Cup. That means less playing time than he might have gotten if the team were in Toronto or LA's position. And it's not unfashionable to appreciate athletic ability, at least I don't think so. But at 23 years old, my question is how much longer can the team sink into his development? 23 is pretty old in sports terms and the longer a guy goes making mistakes, the harder the habits that led to those mistakes are to break. It's not like I don't thin Opara has/had the ability to be a good or even great defender. All I'm trying to do is look at it from the perspective of the coaching and ownership side.

Clearly, if Ike develops into a great defender, it probably will have been worth the time and money spent. At his age and his injuries, I start to wonder, though. What caused his injuries? Maybe there's something about him that makes him prone. Or maybe it's bad luck. There are so many variables and we as fans don't get close to seeing the whole picture.

Upside is a theme a lot of people bring up about Ike, and again, I understand that his relatively young age and athleticism give him the tools to replace Hernandez in the pecking order. His play on the field currently apparently hasn't convinced Frank that he deserves the time on the field with the first team and it's hard to say Frank has been making any truly bad decisions this year with the exception of maybe a couple.

Anybody get a good enough look to form a strong opinion on the PK call? I think I saw three replays, and I just couldn't tell if Perkins really caught Gordon's foot. I'll take it, though (of course). We had plenty of iffy calls against us, and they do tend to even out.

Was not very impressed by Wondo tonight, especially when he dropped into deeper positions. Too many giveaways. Lenhart could have been sharper as well.

Back line was very good. Midfield was okay... some nice possession, but also some careless stuff.

Gordon is on a magical run. Hope it continues.

listened to most of the game on the radio......wasn't hearing Wondo's name mentioned to often so I thought the Quakes might be in trouble. Was able to watch the last 20-minutes on TV. Like Gordon said in the post game interview"Goonies Never Die".........great finish, but my heart/blood pressure/stress level would rather have the Quakes blow a team out every once in a while. I get nervous when Wondo takes the PK's for some reason.

Do Quakes come home then turn around and fly to salt lake or do they head there from colorado? Would hope they would go there tonight or first thing in the morning from colorado so they can continue to acclimate to the altitude.

Can't wait to watch Saturdays match against RSL !

I actually thought that the move into midfield brought Wondo into the game more. And Lenhart again won lots of long passes, was robbed of a goal, and also hit the shot that Gordon cleaned up. So I think he had a good game. The Colorado broadcasters couldn't stop talking about he is deceptively fast and was even challenging Wynne on some of his rundown of passes.
