Last 6 games we have scored 4 goals... very poor for a team with the Best CF in the planet and a really good Midfield. We need to take our chances better.
He has been in a funk, same with Teo. And teams have adjusted. I would like to see some variants and more time for Bacca, Jackson an Muriel though.
We have play'd much better teams and bad planning by our coach. Falcao nor Teo should have play'd last 2 games. 1 is very out of form and the other was injured. Fine in 2006 0r 2010 when we didn't have strikers but with Bacca/Muriel and Jackson scoring abroad I don't get why they didn't play. We also play'd much stronger teams. Look at Serbia's defense, Uruguay is a World Class team who finally taken their foot off 1st gear, Ecuador/Venezuela are alway hard for us, Argentina is Argentina and Peru hit/play dirty when you hand them their ass. We did what we needed to do. I feel if we had used Jackson-Bacca the last 2 games we would have scored much more against Ecuador and probably beat Uruguay(we were beaten in 5 bad minutes of playing which is all a top team or player needs look at James against Ecuador/Peru.) As for our MF it's ok same as our DF. People look at recent results which are misleading. We have a top striker force that most teams would be jeolous of but our top 2 weapons aren't used at the same time. Jackson - Falcao if it works will scare the shit out of everyone at the WC and is up there with Messi-Aguero-Higuian or Neymar +co. I love Teo but out of Barranquilla I chose any of the other guys over him. Teo just doesn't have the international respect that the others have. MF..... we have James and who else? Cuadrado...... ok.....???? Who else. Abel is a good small team player as well as Sanchez(find he stopped Messi big deal tons of people have and Messi/Argentina play like shit against us). Colombia has a A awesome goalie in Ospina but weak back ups A World Class RB in Zuniga but again weak in his subs A very good LB who is awful at finishing and NOT one sub for him A future world class player in James and potentially in Cuadrado and Quintero(doesn't play yet) Falcao who is one of the top 5 strikers in the World/maybe players Jackson isn't a something to laugh about either Bacca was the top striker in belgium Muriel is considered the next Ronaldo We need CBs, DMs and CMs. Hate me all you want for not believing in Perea(has always been shit but fast), Yepes(his chance ended in 2010 why he still on the team!!), Mosquera(thanks for Quito!! and never playing again) We have prospects at CB but they are still too green and will they be ready for the WC? This is where I am most worried about. Balanta, Zapata, Valdez, Yepes isn't a bad 4 but is it enough. Zapata has been a starter in Europe for over 7 years has what like 10 starts for the NT? DM? Valencia(never plays in Brazil), Sanchez(ok but not the player he appeared to be when Pinto gave him his shot)..... who else? Meija??? Seems like the best of the 3 but just starting out...... CM?? Abel(slow...... seems like a better less red card prone Fabian Vargas), Guarin(has been shit or very streaky since he left Porto), Aldo + Macnelly ) !!!! Seriously????) People probably want Cuadrado---Quintero---Guarin/Sanchez---James MF but only 1 defends with 2 wingbacks that almost always attack.... and Yepes - Perea in the back and Germany is going to hand us our asses badly. Like they did to Argentina who thought they didn't need to play with defenders.
So pep your comparing playing well in front of your home town against Uruguay and then against Chile with 1 man down..... a Eliminated Paraguay in front of 40k+ people who think your god the same as playing with a reserve team against Serbia who has a insanely strong defense(stronger than anything in South AMerica), BRAZIL !!! IN FREEZING COLD..... maybe your older then me but when is the last time we beat them or the last guy other the Cuadrado to even score on them? I remember Juan Pablo Angel scoring on them in Barranquilla in 2006. Now Argentina in Argentina...... When the last time we won or scored there? I am saying the Argentina game is against Argentina and you can't really blame any one for not beating Messi away. I just don't like how people defend Teo for those 3 games and shit on Jackson for these 3 games. I love the NT and how we are doing but lets be honest. No one in South America is super strong and no BRazil is helping us. We are weak in CBs and CMs. 4 starting Postions that should be looked at before the World Cup as I think we have a great shot to lift the title if we can find better guys in these spots. Fine you guys want Yepes but Perea CAN'T BE THERE WITH HIM !!! 1 or the other but I prefer neither. Same with Abel-Sanchez
So Uruguay and Chile are better than Argentina and Brazil? Not putting down those 2 wins especially the 3-1 win against Chile which was huge !!! Beating Uruguay 4-0 in Barranquilla.... last time 5-0 with Rueda with Restrepo and a crap team. Uruguay gets killed by Barranquillas heat. But lets compare the 4 top teams in SA not including us. 1 game was against Argentina IN ARGENTINA !!! The game was destroyed by the double red card. Should have been 2 yellow or the ref should have given yellows early on to calm both teams down. Now the Brazil game .... I WAS AT THE GAME !!! IT WAS FREEZING AND I AM FROM NEW ENGLAND !!! AGAIN THEY ARE BRAZIL ! I am a Teo fan but this Jackson vs Teo crap is just becoming some regionalistic bull crap. Jackson is a better player. not because he plays in Europe but because he is. I am just tired of people using 3 good games of Teo and 3 games where most of of strikers would do bad and usually do bad (1 that had no Falcao) against Jackson. I don't care who is up top with Falcao. I am more worried about our CBs and CMs than anything just getting annoyed with the Teo stuff. He was utter shit the last 2 games and that isn't his fault he is in bad form right now from not having a preseason and Pekerman shouldn't have started him.
@ Czd, let's slow down a bit with using Serbia as some sort of measuring stick. Serbia with 9 games in hand is already eliminated in a somewhat small accessible group.... they're no superpower defense and weren't really tested in qualifiers against high power offenses (save Belgium). Their defense has allowed as many goals as Macedonia in a group also shared with the superpowers of Scotland and Wales. Having allowed 10 Goals and making a similar comparison to a conmebol schedule thru 10 games that would hypothetically put them in route to 16-20 goals allowed without facing any easy gimmes. Anyhow, I'm stretching the comparisons a bit to make a point but all in all 1 + 1 doesn't always = 2 in futbol. I am not a Teo fan as well. And along with the Mcnelly position, I think it's the one we most need to improve. I don't think Teo as a bad player as we all know his skill. He just reminds me ALOT of some of the 'hot' strikers we would use insist in past qualifiers (Arzuaga, Herrera, Rodallega, Wason, etc). I would love to see him succeed in RP and will be watching the River match tonight in hopes that he does what he's supposed to do, which is score....a lot!
good points and I agree. Yepes is a true legend to most us who have seen him from his glory days at River to the bastion of hope during qualifiers. But I can (as long as he's also getting serious minutes in Serie A) vouch for his support in the starting roster as he brings leadership and a whole bunch of other intangibles. His performance can also be elevated and or sometimes even compensated for based on the other members of the defensing team - including our GK. Strikers are of a different breed and are really hard to come by at this level. We happen to have several in that position and Jackson or someone else should have a go besides Teo. However, I will also say this on behalf of Teo's defense. Our MF has been looking very weak as of late. The link up between James, defensive wingers (Armero/Zuniga), and other AMF (McNelly/Cuadrado) has been in poor form now for several matches. So while Falcao has also missed some clear sitters and Teo has just not looked to involved in play, these 2 guys upfront are not getting the same type of service that they used to get.

I remember that match like it was yesterday. We played very well as I recall but Argentina had Messi and Pekerman on their side. It's too bad that we met them in Rnd of 16 because it was as close to a final as you would get in that WC.
