Not that it matters now, but I think we will move up to #3 if we win at Netherlands. Beating the 5th and 9th team away has to count for something :)

we won't. 1232 Argentina will be higher even if they lose to Ecuador they will have 1236. Germany loses both games and will still have 1254(they play england and italy... could happen)

    Mister Chip (Alexis) ‏@2010MisterChip2h
    Consecuencias anulación del Sudáfrica-España en Ranking FIFA: > ESP gana 42 puntos (pasa de 1479 a 1521) > RSA pierde 13 (pasa de 554 a 541)

We're staying in 4th, but we're closing the gap of points between Argentina and us.

    OK...

    1. You pay too much attention to this ranking.
    2. Please google it. It is not hard to find how it works.
    3. I'll explain to you why the changes:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_World_Rankings

    Assessment period[edit]
Matches played over the last four years (48 months) are included in the calculation, but there is a weighting to put more emphasis on recent results. Previously an eight-year period was used. The date weighting is as follows:

    Date of matchMultiplier
    Within the last 12 months× 1.0
    12–24 months ago× 0.5
    24–36 months ago× 0.3
    36–48 months ago× 0.2

Most likely we dropped a good result or it went down in points value, while the other two teams experienced the opposite.

Look, these rankings mean nothing now that we were seeded during the draw for the world cup.

Only rating that matters is who wins the World Cup at the end. After we are champions have our 1st star we will be 1st place. Then win the Copa America in 2015 and we will be 200+ points above everyone just like Spain is now

We moved to no. 4 on April and since Argentina lost couple of places, we are officially the best South American team :D

    Portugal 4th HOW???

Also no way can we be better then Argentina. They have had better results the past 4 years then us, beat us at home, finished ahead of us in qualifiers. FIFA rankings make no sense. Spain is like 200 above everyone. No way they barely tied Chile at home

Portugal got on a winning momentum when they had to settle for the playoff against Sweden. Since that weights more than friendlies, and they have been winning each match since the end of the original qualifiers, it gives them more points.

Argentina has only been getting draws and not capitalizing.

Yeah, at times the ranking IS bullshit, but it matters little at this point besides pride.

Not that it that matters, but we fall down 3 places into no. 8 due to our tie vs. Senegal.

Colombia loses lots more points due to that the Colombian victory in qualifiers against Peru, played back at June 2012, for next month will not count 50 % of the points won in that game, but now will only count 30 % of the points gained that time, for next month.
The draw against Senegal, was important as well, but not so meaningful, as friendlies never give much points even if you win or even if you draw. For FIFA's ranking, the more friendly games you play, the more points you will lose, always.
