What a surprise, another SunBelt team beat another MAC team in a bowl game. Troy took apart Ohio U, 48-21.

Pat Forde thought Sunbelt were going to go 0-3 in the bowls this season (and, by extension, since all three SunBelt games are against the MAC, they were going to get creamed by MAC 3-0). Pat Forde is already 0-1 and his next prediction is FIU (6-6) will lose to Toledo (8-4) in Detroit.

Last time a 6-6 SunBelt team played an 8-4 MAC team in Detroit, FAU of SunBelt defeated CMU of MAC, only two years ago. ESPN has a very short memory.

ESPN has always had a football woody for the MAC, don't take it personally.

Totally forgot, the 6-6 SunBelt team (FIU) did, indeed, beat the 8-4 MAC team (Toledo) in Toledo's backyard!

Thursday, we're going to have the third installment of the SunBelt/MAC bowl game challenge, as Middle Tennessee (SunBelt, 6-6) is facing Miami of Ohio (MAC, 9-4). SunBelt has already won the challenge as they are up 2-0. I am thinking SunBelt will sweep MAC.

Supposedly Harbaugh might stay at Stanford too; he's supposed to choose between the SF 49ers and Stanford in the next 48 hours.

Unless he gets seriously injured, I see no problem with him staying. He wants to earn a degree, possibly win a Championship, and enjoy campus life for one more year. Even if his stock drops a bit next year, he'll still be a millionaire in the NFL someday.

His stock can never go higher. The difference in the pay between pick 1 and 10 is huge. So is the team commitment to you.

Besides in the NFL you have a shelf life. You are only in the right physical condition for so long- who knows how long.

    And of course the injury.

Sam Bradford is a fluke example.

Besides, Stanford is one game away from playing in the national championship game. If harbaugh goes, it wont get better.

The worst is not that our rivals won it, but the fact that I have to put up with the arrogance of AU fans for a whole year.

    Great game, very unusual.

btw was that Nicephoras arguing a while ago that it didn't matter that Oregon was backed by Nike and had like sick ass marketing for the program lol...

I think it was RC, saying that this year isn't a reflection of Nike. But it definitely has been all culminating in this, and USC's fall was perfect timing.

Game had it all. INT's early, great defense, great offense, great plays, goal line stands, fluke plays, reviewable plays, last second come backs, last second 2 point conversions, last second field goals.......

Now I remember, RC a little bit and that yibbonik talking weirdo, can't think of his name right now. With the jay&silent bob avatar lol, he refused to buy into the fact Oregon is Nike U.

It was me who question whether 20 years of NIKE sponsorship was the main reason for the Ducks success this year. The Ducks haven't been all that much different in comparative terms compared to OSU, WSU and Washington, which is to say , all three have had runs at the national title followed by downswings.

They have like 400 color combination's to their unforms, their helmets were siiiiiickkkkk, nobody else is like them I don't think you guys understand it literally is Nike U. and them being in the title game will only help their recruiting even more now.

Back in 2000 they were the 2nd ranked team in the country but got hosed for whatever reason I can't remember by the old BCS and Miami and Nebraska got to play instead. I don't know what their second place finish will do to them in the next few years, but it's not like they haven't been here before.

I also don't think that uniforms have much to do with national championships and recruiting. It seems to me to be more about money in the program and the head coach.

Well you say it has to do with money and the head coach. Nike played a role in both of those. The uniforms are just the obvious way Nike comes across in the program.

Jim Tressel stepped down from Ohio State, just more evidence that corruption runs rampant in College Football.

THe biggest corruption in college football is the guys in suits making millions of dollars from kids who don't get paid. Makes FIFA look like a bleeding heart NGO.

Actually the money goes to fund all non-revenue sports. Many schools fund their entire athletic budget for all non-revenue sports through football money. (everything but basketball and football). This is made even more complicated with Title 9, in which they must fund women sports to the same level that they fund football. So every penny spent on the football team is matched in women's sports. There are 49,000 Division 1 athletes and the NCAA is run like FIFA, ie member run organization.

Its the fact that someone like Tressel has to step down over discounted tattoos while the SEC gets away with murder and the NCAA turns a blind eye.
