they should just hire the coach of the greatest team ever to play in the fklushing meadows park leagues...

The head coach of la barra more than 14 championships the boast in their trophy case....

plus it will be fun if the 4 supporters that will come out and see FC long island and the head coach drink and do a few lines b-4 the game....

you know what we should just get la barra to play as FC NY then win or lose we can all eat asados after the game and get drunk and high non stop every weekend....

I like to poke fun Virginfootball...

what can I say I really see a mess in front of me and many feel the same way.....

so far this "ownership" has shown mee any thing but seriousness and I believe that what goes on in the higher ups trickels down to what takes the field....I have heard all the stories about this amature outfit.......

I hope I'm worng but i dont put to much stock in these people...

as far as why i am sure this team really wont draw well its the USL track record of the teams that were here b-4 FCNY... the most succesful was Rough Riders drawing between 1k - 5 k and every one b-4 that were lucky if they were drawing 200 people...

as far as latinos getting behind this I dont see it happening they dont get behind redbull i dont see them getting behind a second division team playing on long island in USL a league they never even heard of if it was MLS that would be a different story...USL is not really some thing that captures your attention...plus with all the service of direct TV fox gol tv and so on and the ease of watching your club teams from back home via internet also plays a roll...

I hope FCNY can draw well i really hope they become what rochester once was when Kodak owned that team..rochester was making tremendous progress and were really making the merits to being an mls side they were out drawing half of the MLS team on a consistant basis.... but from talking to a few BB they have told me this out fit is not really a serious mentality or approch......

I hope i'm wrong but lets see what happens...

as far as the coaches goes I think i would take my chances with dan fisher rooney is non existant and the rhinos canned their coach no need to bring some one that was just canned for bad results let him take a break....

Uruguay some times on Gol TV
usually clasicos I have seen that some other latin channels on direct tv do carry some games...I know that the channel Latino TV have shown games from central america as well not to mention TyC the argie league...the bolivian channel shows games from bolivias 1st division...man i have even seen 30 min stories on the islanders on the puerto rican channel WAPA...

But with internet live streaming such as justin tv and roja directa, live stream soccer, taquitoygambeta, foro celeste and other sites such as these you can watch games from every corner of the world....and they are 100% free

I know a dude who watches his arabic team on direct tv world dish and a co worker that watches the J league via internet and all these are free sites not some pay site such as jumptv

the world is really small now

i have seen listings for polish second division teams for crist sakes you would ask who the hell would watch that but some one does....

does this factor into attendance for FCNY i dont think so... they have to get people to adopt them as their second team because ex pats have such an easy access now to see their own teams week in and week out why should they waste their time with FCNY.. thats what FCNY has to focus on how to get expats latinos, hindus, blacks, brits or martians or what ever to come out to games

man I watch all the wcq conmebol games free via internet and the technology gets better every year i dont pay the 40 bucks on PPV....think i'm going to pay per view usa honduras... i'll watch the nats on the net and the suckers can go and pay a cover plus drinks...

fcny has to do a total mentality change they have to update that sad ass web site they have to try and get some buzz about them going not bad mouth the worthless energy drink because as much AS you hate the drink they are the 1st division side they play is a "better" league and MLS has the better players the level is better but not by much compared to USL.... I mean the drink can sign the intenational players of name USL teams can sign the international player that is unknown but can make A difference....think henry would play for FCNY or would he go to the "major" league in red bull......

FCNY is what it is a second division team it has potential to be some thing small yet great it can be some thing special but the owner is a walking mess dont take my word for it ask the BB supporters who met and spoke with this joker.....

the drink have a new stadium and what not it is a more professional look it is the major league, FCNY will be the cheaper option and cheap all the way including the tin can they will play at...but they can get people to come out and support them cause the drink is really a non factor with in NYC in terms of brand awareness and presence fcny can get those fans that dont see the drink....but its going to take alot of work and if they can at least present them selfs with some class dignity and some sort of professionalium they can get people to give it a chance but with that 1st press confrence which was almost all dirt throwing and bad mouthing the red drink it was a mess completly....

that clowned mentioned red bull more times than he should have....the man thinks he can compete with the worthless drink which is laughable cause the 2 teams PLAY IN 2 DIFFERENT LEAGUES!!!!

rather than hold a press confrence to bad mouth the rival you never play talk about FCNY the USL structure and his ambitions and what he hopes to accomplish with the team in NY. when he was asked about red bull the answer could have been very simple. "look we dont play in the same league and if we play them it would be friendly or US open Cup" and leave it at that maybe get into what the US open cup is about....thats the way to handle that...

In private declare the war on the drink By marketing and being a presence in NYC and LI
good money in ads and what not they also have the advantage of being the CHEAPER OPTION cause red drink is going to jack up their prices at their new digs......in private show no mercy funding smart ads maybe tv spots on local channels and what not...not making an ass out of yourself bad mouthing the drink and showing off a trophy from bob trophy store in hempstead... man they could have gotten some of those NYC cats that are red bull fanatics to also support the 2nd division side but with this guys rant what they did is piss off those cats who now hate FCNY with a vigor and the team has never played once....smart sophisticated ads be major league with your marketing even if the reality says your are a minor league team be major league in print radio and tv thats the way to go...redbull has been laughable and below minor league with their ads that walking with the bulls shit is a perfect example, add that they are not even a presence in NYC...

FCNY also has to think about MLB WNBA the summer movies the long island beaches to compete with.......the summer things....

the web site could keep more people informed man it could at least have boards or design our kits competition any thing to keep you going back to their site on at least a weekly basis at the same time have links to sponcers your season ticket drive info on hofstra redesign our crest competition any thing but the site is a waste of internet space with a dead red bull again plugging your competition and the whole amature site has been abandoned since it launched...

right now FCNY fails in every way

i did not want to go off topic but you know what even the coaching search is a quiet and boring.......they cant even put this news on their site...... they cant even put the try out for their acadamy on their site to inform people....just shows whats in store as far as things to come goes...already they are dropping the ball in every way......

Seriously, I have to say this all the BB.

Do you really think this organization is going to spill their heart out to you all? Do you think they are really going to tell you their business moves and what they plan on doing?

    NO.

They are all businessmen. Their is a reason they are successful. Because on the way up, they knew how to keep their great ideas to themselves. Do you really think they are going to tell a few supporters their plans?

    NO.

Do any of you even own a business, or know someone that does? Ask them (or yourself) if you would ever go public with greta ideas or your plans for the future, so someone else can take your idea.

    Answer....
    NO.

********, you really don't get it, do you?

Just happened to meet one of the owners and had a long talk. I got the impression they are investing quite a bit of money and are trying hard to appeal to the NY market. They have big ideas and good intentions, but its not easy since the audience is big and each faction wants it their way. And as we all know, the media coverage of soccer just sucks around here.

They have pretty deep pockets, but to buy land in NYC area and build a stadium is outrageously big bucks. It took the Yankees organization years to build the new Yankee stadium and look at the sponsor and fan base and media support they have. To get a stadium in the NYC area, you need public money from government support. The bottom line is that whatever public officials from whatever area come up with the most money will play a big role in where the stadium will be. Thats the reality.

Since the USL is in the middle of a major organizational battle with some teams leaving and some coming into the league, I get the impression that those issues have preoccupied the league's owners. At the same time FC NY is trying to put together all the pieces before making any major announcements.

Its frustrating to wait and have very little info coming from the organization. But lets wait and see what they announce before jumping on them. These people are putting their own money on the line to try to bring professional soccer to the area. Lets see the details before shooting them down.

We know this. believe me we do. But when you come out as "New York's Team". What do you expect when we hear Hofstra is a great place .No it blows..Its in the middle of nowhere. If that's what they want, then tell them to buy a PDL team. It will draw about the same anyway

You don't get it do you ? Do you ? We can bring one or two buses full of people who will sing and chant for 90 minutes. But they know it all..Well good luck with that pally. I saw this movie already , it was called the Long Island Rough Riders. Who had more talent on their team then the fecking Metrocards/Red Bull Dr Peppers ever had . And they drew NOBODY
    I don't give 2 f@cks what they do anymore.

If this is really just about great business planning, they should have had something set up for season ticket deposits in april, had they done that they could have capitalized off the initial buzz of the team. Most of the BB would have committed to season tickets at that point, a handful even tried to contact the club about it to no avail.

I would assume that there are others who would have signed up for season tickets during that "honeymoon" period as well.

I don't know how they can create that kind of buzz again, but i guess thats why they are the big time businessmen and women.

lol. ok agreed there. but still, they're business men. They are not going to spill everything they have out to some supporters. For all they know, you could work for another organization, or something like that.

I would just give them the benefit of teh doubt that they are doing whatever they can.

The bottom line is, they are not in this to lose money. Just like every other owner of an MLS or USL club, they have one objective:

To make as much money as possible.

So, I'm sure they are very serious about the club. They are not looking to just spend a lot of money just for the club to collapse.

It doesn't cost much money to launch a functioning website. It doesn't cost much money to maintain it past posting the original press release.

This is cheapness on display. There is no excuse for their lack of presence, locally or online.

Peterson can show up and do halftime interviews at USL games but he can't take the time to hire someone to do a half decent website? Most PDL teams have better sense...

You make some good points, and we are all soccer fans here, so if we look at this website and cringe, how will someone react that already looks at the sport as bush league?

I hope they prove me wrong and this team works out but with the proof that they have given me its difficult to believe that will happen.

    *the website
*the lack of information including season ticket info
    *Hofstra (lack of public transit)
*The state of the USL (not Doug's fault but still a huge factor)
