Anyone have a list of the top 10 clubs around the world with the biggest fan base. An official report would be best rather than peoples personal opinion. thanks alot
World's Richest Clubs (World Soccer July 2003) Sorry, I cannot give you the number of fan base rankings, but the July 2003 World Soccer listed the 20 biggest clubs (2 months ago I believe ... the one with Maldini kissing the UEFA Champions League trophy on the cover). They ranked them on Revenue, Wage Bill and Net Transfer Spending for the year 2001-2002. Here's the top 20 for Revenue (not counting transfer sales) with their valuation in Euros. 1. But the real fan base is different from that. A poll from the "DFL" (Bundesliga) was asking the german people: "What club are you Fan of?" Bayern München - > 12.6 Mio. Borussia Dortmund -> 6.3 Mio. Schalke 04 - > 4.8 Mio. Hansa Rostock -> 3.8 Mio.
I have heard that Manchester United has the biggest fanbase but Real Madrid's revenue is so much greater that it now makes me think that they have the biggest fanbase.
Man U has probably the biggest fanbase since they had Beckham who appealed to everyone. I think that Real will soon be ahead.
Re: World's Richest Clubs (World Soccer July 2003) I am a little bit surprised to see Real ahead of Man U in the above list in terms of revenues. In other such estimates that I have seen elsewhere within the last nine months, Man U was ranked no. 1 and Real no. 2 in all of them. Maybe the above list was compiled with slightly different criteria.
