De Rossi wears 16 in honour of his eldest daughter's birthday.

Gervinho wears 27 for his own birthday, he's wore it at Lille, Arsenal and now Roma.

I'd be willing to bet that 6 and 7 being their respective position numbers certainly informed their choices and is much more than a mere coincidence

De Rossi's number was 4 before his daughter was born.

Lol, nobody chooses 27 because it has 7 in it. The only reason 16 is a more popular number than 41 is because it is lower, not because its 6 and 1

Retiring numbers is so tacky. I'm glad they unretired the one number that was retired. I can tolerate the retired number 12's in the US for football which are dedicate to the 12th man (the fans), but the prolonged idol worship past that point is hard to stomach. Totti has made a lot of money, money that the club didn't hesitate to pay him despite being flimsy financially, and they're going to build a statue of him.

Even the statue makes me a little queezy. They're kicking a piece of rubber around on some grass.

De Rossi would be a 5 anyway, but the traditional numbers are dead they predate the position of a full back

I disagree. Our colors are actually perfect. The symbol would be white on our home jersey and red on our away jersey. You wouldn't have the ugly clash of colors that you get with many sponsors.

Messi would make a good back up for Gervinho.

il tempo reports Turkish airlines is in advanced talks to be a team sponsor - doesn't say if shirt sponsor or just another sponsor on the list.

What do you mean? Next season (2014-2015) will be the first season affected by FFP in terms of punishments.

I will post this again for clarification:
