I still think they're comparable. The advantage Shearer had was that he was the default penalty taker for Newcastle and for England, Pizarro wasn't (I think Ballack was the guy at Bayern, and Frings at WB, and of course Solano in the NT).

Shearer had power, but no touch. It's probably why he often scored from outside the area, unless someone like Solano dribbled the ball up for him.
Pizarro has both. He scores a far wider variety of goals than Shearer--there's no comparison there! Of course, now he just stays very close in the box.

And, the national team...well...we already know about Claudio's disasters...
Nevertheless, England (with shearer) didn't win their own Euro '96, got eliminated early in France '98, and didn't even qualify for USA '94. And never mind that England played teams like Andorra, Turkey (weak at the time), Luxembourg, etc. in official FIFA matches, which means he has plenty of opportunity to look like a hero. Of course, I doubt he's ever been booed off the field, like Claudio.

    57 games for Cachito so
    56 for Pizarro

Nene scored his 26 in 81 games

this is all according to wiki

Pizza kills them both in international club comps

and If he had stuck around Peru im sure his numbers in the league would be higher

kinda interesting that he is the 3rd all time scorer in all comps, wonder what Lolo's official numbers are.

by the time he retires he will have overtaken Cachito.

Lolo's numbers are a lot lower but it mostly stems from the much lower number of games they played back then.

I've read that they'd often only play 15-20 games in a season because there were so few teams in the league. And there weren't any international competitions either.

Same thing with NTs. Lolo played till he was in his early 40s and had something like 35 caps! In a goal-per-game ratio, he and Valeriano Lopez run circles around Pizarro.

Oh, and Cubillas was a #10, not a forward. But he was also the main PK taker in probably all his teams, which helps his numbers.
