When SAF was the first to copy Roma 4 6 0, yes he was the first despite the Barca hype.

Pfft 4-6-0 was invented on Football Manager Live, every top team was utilising a back 4 flat 4 midfield and two AMs before they fixed the Game engine with a massive update ;)

The fact that he played a rotating trident didn't mean that there wasn't a centre-forward - it just meant that Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney took turns to play the role depending on the situation.

Not really Ronaldo was our roaming forward who got on the end of everything we conjured up.

I'm off, but in the past I've used some of the following

" I have to run home because ..."
    • My burglar alarm went off
    • My wife/girlfriend has broken down on the side of the road
    • The school called and (insert kid's name here) needs to leave
    • My mother has locked herself out of the house
    • I forgot my dental exam was today
    • I'm not feeling well (preceded by morning illness buildup)
    • I need to take a longer than usual lunch to handle some "paperwork"
    • My friend is at the airport and has no taxi fare
If applicable, with a solemn face, assure Boss Man/Boss Lady you will be back and/or make up your time. Remember, tell NO ONE about the match starting tomorrow. Good luck, we're counting on you..

There's a pretty good chance that Welbeck might start behind RVP and on Alonso with Rooney on the left and someone like Cleverley/Jones on the right in front of Rafa. Cleverley is a good crosser and Jones can run at their fullback and take him on Physically while both will double team on Ronaldo.

Wonder whether Maureen starts Ozil or Modric in this one. As if it's Ozil then Carrick should get plenty of time to try and run things.

But Ozil is picking up some form recently attacking wise.

From the Madrid thread. City are a much better team than us apparently. :D

Carrick and Cleverley are mediocre mid table players according to those guys.

SAF: "Let's hope we can get the team out that we want on Wednesday." - suggests he wants Phil Jones to be fit to face Real Madrid.

Hoping he is fit, if we want to start him.

I think he is the best fit if we play with just one winger.

Cheech has to play at cf but with Danny on the wing he provides penetrative dribbling as well as cunning movement and a central threat when our #10 drops deep.

It would be interesting to see Kagawa playing off RvP or Rooney with Nani and Welbeck playing as wingers. Hell, could even try it as 433 with a false nine.

Sadly for us Mourinho is a ton more tactically sound than people with comments like that. He's probably been watching the full tape of the current squads play every week since the draw.

And most likely players have also had homework on their possible counterparts also.

I think our biggest advantage will be if Arbeloa plays. Hopefully Jose doesn't move Ramos to RB with Varane and Pepe in the middle. This would be a much more solid back line against how we attack.

Pepe out injured for a couple of weeks more I think.

Edit: He made the squad for Sevilla but not sure he's match fit.

I don't think even he will have a clear idea how we'll lineup. Their are so many combinations we can go with.

I call it now. If Jones is fit we will see...

    Rooney----------RVP-----------Danny
    --------Jones-----------Cleverley
    ----------------Carrick
    Evra------Evans----Rio--------Rafael
    ----------------De Gea

    With Jones man marking Ronaldo.

It doesn't matter who their RB is. Arbeloa, Ramos, they are still going to get dribbled. Welbeck will take their lunch money. Thinking about it, I'd be happier if he came off the bench for Nani. Welbeck against tied legs and possibly carded tied legs is a recipe for disaster.

With what we have available, we would have to go for it. We dont have defensive alternatives [unless Fletcher has met with Dr. Fuentes] to play it any kind of way safe.

The most defensive I could see is, Young and Valencia on the wings, with Carrick, Cleverl in the middle and Rooney in front of them, picking up Alonso [who'se been shite anyway]

if I were Mourinho, without looking at the form of their players besides alonso, I'd play Modric and Khediera.

But I expect Mourinho to be a little cautious, and play Khediera, Essien AND Alonso, with Ronaldo, Benzema and Di Maria.

Clev will play wide right with Jones as the right sided cm.

Rooney either left or central with Carrick. Nani left if Rooney isn't. If Rooney is left, Anderson will play in mf.
