If the boys play the way they did on the weekend, then we will advance... if they play like the past 2 months ... then we have the pokal to concentrate on! :D

Schweinsteiger and Müller are one yellow card away from suspension.

As stated, come out like Saturday and Basel stand little chance. They are a nice side and well coached, but lived a charmed life on the first leg.

Don't think it will be so charming this time round. Especially with Lahm/Alaba tandem.

    WHAT IS OUR HEALTH STATUS????
    Robben?
    Boateng?

Tough call on playing Schweini then. He is definitely needed, and will not be 90 minutes fit. If he is to pick up a yellow, then it just means a first leg sitting, right?

I would rather have him for both legs naturally, but if I had to pick one over the other, the 2nd leg would be most important for me.

I think that Schweini should be on the bench we need to go with the same eleven as vs Hoffenheim.Schweini can play in the second half if he is needed and the result is close. We should try and press the first 10-15 minutes very very hard.

Btw Mark Clattenburg from England will be the referee

None of the players are rated as Doubtful for the Basel game, not even Robben, Boateng and Gomez (not sure about Rafinha) ...

And I'm not sure that play Schweini from the start is the best idea. He's not 100% in shape yet. I'd play with the the same starting XI as hoff's game and then put Schweini in at maybe Half-time, and if I were Heynckes I would tell him to force an Yellow Card, because I also prefer losing him in the 1st leg than in the 2nd (maybe if he scores a goal he can take his shirt off) ...

I think the starting line up will be the same as against Hoffenheim, with Muller coming off for Schweini in the second half.My only question is, will Alaba be able to hold his own against Shaqiri? He had a good game against Hoffe, but Basel is much much better.

The good news is that the Basel LB might be out injured. He had the measure of Robben the last time out.

When does the yellow card situation 'reset' for Schweini and Muller?

No secret, we need a fully fit team. Basel are no pushovers and defensively are very able. If we can hit them on the counter with Robben and Ribery, we can finish them off in the first half.

Our defense is my biggest concern, we know how to deal with attacks when we sit deep. Badstuber and Boateng are proven at this. However, when we have 2 -3 defenders at the back, we look too stretched and inexperienced. This is normal, our 2 central defenders are aged 23 and 24 and hardly have any experience, but if they can focus, can get the job done.

I don't think that the card situation resets. Remember Ramos purposely getting a red card last year, just to ensure the suspension/card reset before the knockout stages?

    correct me if I'm wrong

I watched that game, yes ramos got a yellow card trying to take a goal kick, which was his second of the game so he was sent out..

Alonso did the same thing right after, him.

The announcers talked about this very thing :)

I think the lineup should remain the same as Hoff.... agreed, this is good news.

    What is popular opinion?
Schweini only come on if needed?
Schweini comes on regardless after 50 minutes?
    Schweini to start?

Keep in mind the yellow card accumulation thing (Schweini, Mueller).

I would start the same line-up as against Hoffenheim, and bring Schweini in around the 60 minute mark.

If you don't mind posting, what is Bild suggesting the line-up will be?
