Indeed DvB had been playing well in our matches since the New Year, except for some nervous opening minutes in Wolfsburg. I don't think Arsenal will try to threaten us through the middle, even if they have that Wilshere boy running. My worry lies on our flanks, where Lahm & Alaba sometimes leave to much space behind. I think Wenger will setup his team to try to counter on the wings (maybe Carzola on the left to drift inside to help the midfield battle, and Walcott on the right to run directly to our left side). If anything thing, our fullback should play cautiously like the final with Chelsea last year (I'm not talking about the final result anyway), where they had almost no chance to counter because there was no space behind the fullbacks. DvB will be fine I think. One thing I like about DvB playing is his passing game. His forward passes are better than those lobs of Boateng, especially when where are trying to win the possession game with a posession-oriented team. Some thought about the tactical battle of the match from Michael Cox, one of my favourite writer:
Ill get more nervous as game time approaches.. Whatever the odds are, this football and anything can and will happen.. I really am just hoping for a result and I hope dvb isn't our downfall this year.. (Boetang the idiot)
EDIT: My fear is that Mandzu puts up a stinker, Mueller does his Casper The Friendly Ghost impersonation and JH says that the game was too close to make any subs. In that case 1-1 / 0-0.
I'd start Robben, Mez AND Mueller. We want to win, no? Thought Jupp was saving Mez & Robben for CL and Mandzu/Kroos for BL. I think Kroos has faded a bit after a good Hinrunde. Don't see why he never gets rotated. If the rumoured lineup is true, then this rotation policy has just turned into an alienation policy.
I am very reserved about this result. I'm tempted to say "Bayern's got this easy", but every time I say that, I get humbled. Therefore, I am hoping for 1-1.
Yeah, the last 3 CL runs have really stung with the disappointment and pain ratcheted even more intense season after season. I hope that the current team can put those disappointments to bed (well, 2010 CL final was a fluke but still).
I have a feeling it will be 0-2 for Bayern within 20 minutes. Not sure what will happen after that. Could be a killing or very boring after that.
Muller will start. if we are in trouble, Robben can always give us that extra lift in the later part of the game. as always, Kross will play for sure.
There is no way Jupp benches Kroos tonight. He is needed to help us retain the ball, and to drop deep to help Schweinsterger and Martinez mifield trio (probably 4 if Wilshere play at the top and Cazorla on the left). Robben on the right and Muller at 10s is too direct for a 1st leg on the road. We probably need it late in the 2nd leg, if the result doesn't favour us by that time. I hope not.
I meant Kroos to help Schweinsteger and Martinez fighting with Arsenal's midfield trio (or even quartet should they line-up with something like Diaby-Arteta-Wilshere-Cazorla-Walcott)
"Jenkinson on standby as Koscielny is a huge doubt for Bayern. Very short on defenders. Gervinho set to be axed. #afc http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/champions-league-preview-arsenal-could-1717141 …" Robben. ROBBEN!!!
Don't bother. Generally speaking, on the German transfermarkt forums a lot of people actually believe that someone who has at least 2 spelling mistakes per post lacks decency and has automatically no integrity in matters regarding football. Sad but true. There are Grammar Nazi's in Germany - everywhere.
It'll be very hard, the Gunners give out 100% gas at home but we're superior so we can win the game, achtung to Poldi and Walcott........lets go Bayern!!!!!!!!!
Just get a result... Just get a result.. Just get a result... I said it three times, crossed my fingers and toes, threw salt, chanted while spinning counter clock wise.
Anybody else thinks we're going to win this with a clean sheet ??? 2x0 FCB today (or tonight depending on were you are )
