    I wouldn't be surprised 1-1...

I hope we can get a result to at least finish it at the Allianz

Going to try to keep my expectations for this match in check. Inter 2011 is still fresh in my memory and is still probably one of the most painful sports losses I've ever experienced. And I root for the goddamned Detroit Lions. :p

Nice! I'll say it's surprisingly much harder being a Bayern fan most of the time. With Bayern, disappointment is a very real thing and if you don't keep your expectations in check (which is hard to do given the pedigree of the club) you're in for a bad time. With the Lions, there is no dissappointment because, well, there are no expectations and it's already assumed we won't win anything. Ever.

To Robben for me. We need someone who isn't afraid to penetrate or dribble in this matchup. Robben is very direct, very pacey, and has a lethal shot. While I love Mueller, he has average dribbling, and his pace isn't on the same level as Robben's. Robben is tailormade to take down average or makeshift fullbacks like Vermaelen and works great for this matchup. Plus I feel Bayern would have a better chance at scoring that crucial early goal with Robbben starting.

I would support Muller to start because this match the most important thing is we should not lose and get a decent result. WE DONT HAVE TO WIN. Its an away game and we need the defensive discipline which Muller would provide. I was the first person to suggest Robben for the start cos of his pace and trickery but that IMO shouldnt start cos we really dont need to go gung ho.

Start Muller bring in Robben in the 60th min to rip the tired defenders. I belief Robbens is more effective vs tiring defenders, and Muller for stability

Müller gets better away results than Robben most of the time. I'd give him until the 60 minute mark to get results and then let Robben loose to vent his frustration on Arsenal's defense.

If I were Wegner the thought of Robben coming in on the 60th and upping the pace, making runs at taking shots at Metzelder/Vermallen would be the more worrisome than him starting. Just have to wonder if they start him to shut him up. Yes, I know it is all a media creation....

I never thought of it like that..

If we have muller and Ribery start then use robben at the 60th to tare the defense apart..

    I like this idea :)

Nevermind actually, the way you explain it, I like the idea of Mueller starting and Robbben on at the 60th minute better than I like the idea of Robben starting

Arsenal used to play well on that little highbury pitch [30m*30m] and now they no longer advantage. Any one still remembers that Scholl freekick wonder goal in 2021

Robben or Muller is 50/50 to me, I don't think you can make a mistake. Against a youth teamer I would want Robben, but Vermaelen is experienced. I think either option would succeed; I want to see Robben out there, but obviously Muller has been great and doesn't deserve to get benched.

hi, bayern are pretty hot this year, looking for maybe a third final in 4 seasons. quite a few confident fans on here and rightly so, especially given arsenals shit form, both in the league, cups and especially at home. but, are none of you even slightly worried about mr daniel van buyton?was watching espn earlier and one of the guys was highlighting dvb as a serious weak link, short on pace and not much when bringing the ball out of the defence. i remember him being a bit shit and noticeably slow a few years ago. if walcott, podolski or cazorla get a run at this guy they should skin him. is he this shit and if so why the fk are you playing him?

he is one of the slower defender, that's for sure and bring (at least to me) a lot of worries. But the idea is to try to keep the ball at your half and make him little to no work (which i understand is difficult). as i said in the very first post. It doesnt matter if our defense is weak if we score more goals than Arsenal :)

He is a weak link. The reason he plays is that Badstuber has gotten a season ending injury and at best will make the last few games. That leaves Boateng and Dante, Boateng got a red card (completely stupid from him) last match and will miss both the Arsenal ties. So with one player out for almost/likely whole season and the other suspended, Bayern has to use their 4 choice CB.

With DvB in the first leg of the tie we should find out fairly soon if Arsenal poses a threat to him, which leaves us with the option of putting in Gustavo and having either him or Martinez drop into CB to deal with the pace. Being away in the first leg will be to our advantage on this front.
