LvG was our coach vs Inter/Mourinho and that didn't help us either. Besides that did I never have the feeling that we beat an opponent due to tactical superiority under LvG in the CL.
Our best games were against ManUtd but those were very open and chaotic, not really a tactical affair.
Compare that to our games against Napoli and ManCity which were very disciplined and in which we actually controlled the games.
Real would be a difficult task for any team but I don't see any reason why we couln't be successful against them.
We will of course need two very good games and have everyone available but if that's the case it should be a close thing.

We were good in that game. We lost due to Van Buyten's brainfarts. Had Muller scored earlier on that great chance, the game would have had a different outcome

"Would"... it was pretty much our only decent chance and doesn't change the reality.
The same is true for our games against Dortmund and Gladbach under Heynckes, you could also say that the outcome would have been different without those mistakes by Boateng and Neuer.
My point is simply that we weren't really playing a great tactical football under LvG. It was all about our great individual quality upfront without any stability in the defence. I for sure didn't see any "master plan" by LvG.

Well, let's agree to disagree on this issue then. I don't think I can convince you

Some of the better team/ tactical CL victories were vs Citeh and Napoli which we dismantled

Vs Inter both legs were nothing tactical, vs Fiorentina and Man Utd were chaotic games won by individual brilliance

Have you watched Madrid? Their defense is worse than Bayern's this year, they can and will definitely score.

If it comes down to it and both teams make it, it could be a goal fest. Which team can score more than the other. Marcelo, Arbelol and Coentrao are all poor defensively, and Ramos besides being mentally challanged half the time could get caught out of position.

I'm really getting tired of fans naming how can Bayern beat "player X" or score on "player X" or defend on "player X". Get some balls for God's sake, Madrid have yet to play a big team other than Barca.. and they lost to them. I've read the same bullshit with Bayern when the group stages were revealed, when big bag Cavai, Lavezzi, Hamsik, Dzeko, etc etc were going to destroy Bayern's defense. And then Bayern guaranteed 1st place with 1 game in hand, tieing away in Italy in a match they were the far better team as well.

ya I really don't get this talk about our defence, only Barca conceded less shots on goal in average than Bayern this season.
The defence isn't what let us down this season so far, it was more about individual brain farts (hello Mr. Neuer) than a lack of quality in our defence.

Its not about having balls or not, its being realistic...

Bayern did come out of group of death in brilliant form btw, so that credit has to go there..

BUT this is REAL MADRID were talking about, their depth alone is ridiculous..

we have to fight 180 mins with them and give everything we got.

I don't care about their depth, at the end it's what the starting XI accomplishes not what their depth can do. Other than Kaka, none of their depth players would make a difference in these types of matches.

Hopefully Bayern has a full, healthy team. Then it will be whose on the best form and perhaps luck or even a referee error may play a part in the outcome. But this isn't some landslide difference of class.

Our defense is certainly better than theirs, but their attack has been better than ours. That doesn't mean a whole lot though, when the games begin if both teams get there we will see likely an even affair between both teams, we will see how it all pans out.

Well, that's why we play in Champions League. To enjoy matches like this. If we do beat Marseille, and then if we do manage to beat Madrid, it would be an amazing road to the final. :)

If we get paired with Madrid, we should just forfeit. No point playing them when they're certain to win.

Madrids defense is quite sturdy actually. I have seen every game they've played. Usually, when they do concede, it's because the other team managed to scramble something or just had a moment of brilliance. I would definitely say that Pepe and Ramos are 2 of the finest central defenders in the world.

Chances are Mourinho will face us with something like this

    ---------------------Casillas---------------
    Diarra/Ramos---Pepe---Ramos/Carvalho---Coentrao

I agree, Bayern can win this and did we exceptionally well against top teams in the group stages. If we go in with good form, have Robben, Ribery, Gomez, Mueller, Kroos and Schweini all fit - we can do some serious damage.

It'll be incredible if we can beat them for sure. I'd say this is one tough bayern squad and whoever faces us in the final will have to do the unthinkable.

I don't know, they don't look stable for me at least, so I disagree. They look quite vulnerable defensively speaking and all their fullbacks have problems defensively I think this probably works in Bayern's favor more than anything here.

We'll have to wait and see. We'll perform well, but my bet is that they won't collapse defensively

Madrid is being made out to be better than they really are here. Yes, they have generational talents on that team. Yes, their depth is ridiculous. But in their biggest tests this year (Classicos), they have for the most part failed to impress.

Trying to be subjective here, I would put Madrid as exactly halfway between Bayern (ranked 3rd in the CL by the bookies) and Barca (ranked 1st). And I am one of the few who believes that gap is no longer very big. Madrid are slight favourites over FCB, nothing more.

That being said, having the second leg away would benefit them a great deal.

If we are able to shut them down and keep a clean sheet at home, say 1-0 or by some chance 2-0 at home... We have a huge advantage going to Madrid, because even 1 goal by us and it's all over...

The question is how we do at home, we need a clean sheet like our lives depended on it :)
