Let's have a look at the start of our European run. Who will be the first stepping stone on our way to the final?

It's us and 4 other teams from England, Spain, Italy and France, and 5 winners of the qualifying rounds before. Two pots; we will be unseeded of course, but it doesn't have to be that bad.
England: Arsenal, Tottenham or Newcastle (or no team, if Chelsea win the title). Newcastle would be unseeded.
Spain: Valencia, Malaga or Levante. Malaga and Levante would be unseeded.
Italy: Napoli, Udine or Lazio. Lazio might be unseeded.
France: PSG or Lille. Lille might be unseeded.

Funny thing: It might be Gladbach, Newcastle, Malaga, Lazio and Lille; the unseeded pot full of teams from the top 5 leagues.

I was about to open this thread,it was about time. After such amazing season and departure of REUS and who knows who later on things look interesting in a strange way for tho for GLADBACH! After such euphoria and high suddenly u drop back on earth.Losing someone like REUS isn't easy not so much due to his footballing skills but maybe because he was a classy Borusse and its been a while since we have had solid classy players that you feel they loved gladbach. Also the direction of our club and favre for a long-term plan isn't as clear and convincing as i had wished for.Regardless of all that its great to find our way back on "European Grass".Our clubs name has been over due to be announced at international stages and this is the Highest Privilege.I hope we can bring a balance squad to the games,Perform intelligently and who knows create another little "Miracle Story" in the euros which would compliment our history and tradition respectfully ,now that would be something ?

Good news from Spain; Valencia qualified for the group stage.
    3 FC Valencia 37 16 61
    4 FC Málaga 37 0 55
    5 Atlético Madrid 37 6 53
    6 RCD Mallorca 37 -1 52
It's Malaga, if they win at home vs Gijon (19th); and they would be in our pot.

That cant happen. Rangers is unable to play in Europe next season, so Motherwell will enter the CL qualification. As unseeded obviously. :)

As for the new FORUM design and template, yes it suckZZZZ big time..in a day and age that you can do websites with not a whole lot of $ or even buy install ready templates that are much better..this is a "SLAUGHTER"

I just wanna play a team we can beat. I suppose a team like Braga from Portugal should be a team we would do fine against. They will be seeded if there winning third qualifying round. Or maybe Panathinaikos??

My friend "Panathinaikos" is no spring chicken, specially in international matches...they are totally strong opponents !
I personally think we play much better against the BIG BOY'S, but to get there we have to go up against the smaller clubs which we might take lightly and that has proven a "TRAP" for us !
All in all its going to be exciting and i hope we can keep our heads up proud and remind the world once more about this club and its rich history and tradition. And if we get some luck in that mix the better, who knows if we make more money and also manage t0 keep LUCIEN at the park things may look much different in the next couple of years.

I generally think Greece football is going down. My local team (Odense BK) Was for the first time ever in CL qualification this year. They won over Panathinaikos, and i gotta say Odense BK isnt a good team. Not at all. Last season FC Copenhagen (Also Danish team) Also won against Panathinaikos. If they can beat them, i think we can do the same.. :)

Am also confident we should be able to handle greek sides, but they also turn out to be very stubborn against strong opponents or during international games, they seem to know how to park the bus in front of the "GATE"
Right now am just hoping for a lucien favre contract extension and perhaps the addition of a player like luuk de jong:confused::speechless::devilish::giggle:

Am also very upset about our "WEAK" & "UGLY" new kits, is our management sleeping and totally in denial that great GLADBACH kits demand more "GREEN " & "BLACK" helloooooooo...anybody???
MORE GREEN AND BLACK, the new kits are TOTAL ABOMINATION:mad::cry:

Don't underestimate them (they reached the EuroLeague final just 2 years ago).

Btw: Didn't know you're Odense fan. Does Hans-Henrik Andreasen still play for them? He played for my local club Fürth (just been promoted to the 1 BL) some years ago.

    http://www.greuther-fuerth.de/uploads/pics/hans_henrik_andreasen.jpg

Great fighter & very likeable guy ... the fans called him "our danish dynamite". Unforgotten his 2 goals at Allianz-Arena München against 1860.

So do you prefer Celtic? :p I don't (even though we surely can advance over them as well).

Yes he does. :) He is sooo average. One of the player people in Odense just doenst like.
Maybe he is just bad this season (Like the rest of the team) At least we will stay in the top league now.. Horrible season for Odense - Good season for Gladbach. Normally its the other way. ;)

Things are getting clearer. The big picture looks as follows:

    Qualifying stage:
    SC Braga 63,069
    Dynamo Kiew 62,026
    Spartak Moskau 46,066
    Fenerbahce Istanbul 41.615
    FC Brügge 35,480
    Feyenoord Rotterdam 12,603
    FC Motherwell 6,728
    2. Denmark
    2. Greece
    2. Romania
=> 5 winners advance to our

    Playoff stage:
    Tottenham 66,857
    Udine 38,996
    Lille 38,835
    Malaga 16,837
    Gladbach 15,003
The numbers are the coefficients for the seeding process; so we can't be drawn against Malaga, Feyenoord and Motherwell, and probably won't be drawn against Udine and Lille (depending on the winners of the qualifying round).
There are some special cases and further details, but you should get an idea of the pots. We're probably facing one of Tottenham, Braga, Kiev, Spartak, Fenerbahce, or maybe Kopenhagen or Panathinaikos.

Great year to be an unseeded team in the qualification. Not a lot of scary opponents. I think Gladbach has a great chance of making the groups.

Dynamo Kiev won at Rotterdam today, so we have Kiev, Braga and Spartak Moscow definitely in the other pot. Probably Panathinaikos as well, if they don't lose to Motherwell worse than 0-2 at home. Then it's up to the other clubs:
    København, if they beat Brugge.
Otherwise Fenerbahce, in case they beat Vaslui.
    Otherwise Udine.

Panathinaikos, Copenhagen and Fenerbahce won their games. Our possible opponents are:
Kiev, Braga, Spartak, Panathinaikos and Copenhagen.
I don't know that much about them. We should have enough quality to beat any of them; however, they're all much more experienced in these games. The best-known team to me is Copenhagen, I've watched the Hannover games last year. They would be a nice draw; Copenhagen is a nice city within travel distance, we're still in holidays, and I think the quasi-Mrs. Lascho would agree to a trip to Copenhagen.

Actually IMO at least..id be more worried about teams like Braga or Panathinaikos, not because they are better teams than Copenhagen per say...but they are always difficult opponents that park the bus and now just know how to cripple the opponents game & inflict that crucial blow.Unless we go into these games like a STORM! No tip toes and conservative attitude,go in full throttle and finish them strong!

I hope we can avoid Kiev & Moscow (not just because their season has already started), whereas Copenhagen would surely be the "easiest" draw (and I suppose that @ Danne would love it:) ). Fact is that all teams are tough to play and have more international experience than us. Interesting that Favre would meet his former "darling" Raffael if we get Kiev, Stranzl & Wendt their former clubs if we get Moscow & Copenhagen.

Oh yes! I would love it.. Copenhagen was soo lucky yesterday. Totally disaster referee. Would love so see our team in DK, and Copenhagen is probably also the "easiest" of the teams, so that would be perfect. But Panathinaikos or Braga would be OK too i suppose. I just wanna avoid Kiev & Spartak.
