Yea, Heynckes is probably thinking the same. Play them for a half, 30 minutes or maybe one full game but don't rest them completely. That would be silly.

You forget, he needs to send memos out to the opposition: No F*cking Tackling!!

And to the team: If the opposition asks for the ball just let them have it.

Any injury to any of those 11 might mean we see Haas and Usami in the CL final.

Unlike Chelsea we are not chasing anything and can afford to lose all our games before then.

I would shit on myself if any of the eligible players get injured in a meaningless game, It would be similar to injuring yourself in a meaningless practice match before a tournament. e.g Zidane- World cup 2002

Knowing that DVB will not be fully fit Heynckes must play TYmo as CB the only concerning thing is that with Kroos,Schweini,Muller in the middle we will not have to much defensive cover only Schweini will be left to run back and Chelsea will play with 3,4 midfielders Mikel,Lampard,Mata and Essien. If DVB was ready i would have played him even though i don't like him just so Kroos and Schweini can do their job with Tymo covering them

You do remember how we play for the first few games after every Winter break, yes? If we come out in that form against Chelsea in the CL Final we'll have our starters playing, but at backup form.

No easy answers here. This is the risk that the FO took when they decided not to get another CB at the break.

If it's a risk either way I'd roll the dice on injuries rather than let the team go flat. I think we can manage the intensity of these last two league games to keep them from getting too heated. As for fluke injuries...what can you do other than try to keep everyone fresh and rotate players. One thing for sure -- we have to give Tymo and Pranjic, Contento and Rafinha some time to knock the rust off and get back in a competitive midset and that means they have to play with the guys they will actually be playing with if they are in the final.

And, to be honest, I'm more worried about injuries in the Pokal final than I am for the two final BL games.

This situation right here is why we need a bigger squad and more rotation.

Players know how to avoid injuries. You can get a good run out without risking your own physical well being.

agreed... The Pokal is NOT worth losing anyone...and I'd rather it NOT go to 120 min, rather the guys prepping for 19May than recovering from some domestic cup.

Naturally we should want to win the Pokal, but I agree with Jocamryn that it's not worth sweating over for any more than the regulation ninety. Yeah, so BVB will have a domestic double - but hopefully we'll collect Old Big Ears the following week.

Most of those predicted chelsea starting xi's have more than 3 non eu players. Whats the limit?

According to the Guardian: Cahill Remains Doubtful for CL Final

Would not be surprised if Chelsea are being guarded and both are better off than the report makes things out to be, but if the reports are anything like reliable both sides are going to need to field makeshift lineups and Chelsea can ill afford to give its CL defense a chance at league play with next season's European prospects in doubt.

Dont think there is a limit for non EU players

Below is Inter Milans lineup in 2010 and have 8 non EU starters

    • 12 Julio Cesar
    • 04 Zanetti
    • 06 Lucio
    • 13 Maicon
    • 25 Samuel
    • 26 Chivu yellow card (Stankovic 68)
    • 10 Sneijder
    • 19 Cambiasso
    • 09 Eto'o
    • 22 Milito (Materazzi 90+1)
    • 27 Pandev

    Much more likely for Chelsea:

    ----------Drogba
    Torres/Malouda---Mata---Kalou
    ------Mikel------Lampard
    -Cole---Luiz---Cahill---Bosingwa
    -----------Cech

With Sturridge coming on as super-sub.

    Definitely a dangerous starting XI.

Probably the best starting XI we can field. Will he switch Lahm back to the left?

    It remains to be seen...

Van Buyten starting in the CL final after months on the sidelines injured? I'll take some of whatever drugs you guys are on.

Remember the last time he started in a CL final for us and was fully fit? Diego Milito made him look like a 2. Bundesliga player.

Totally agree. The only way DvB is coming on in the final is to replace Mario Gomez. ;)

So what line up would we have?

Should we put all our eggs in the starting 11?

    Something like

    Neuer
    Lahm boetang tymo ?
    Piggy kroos
    Muller
    Robbery
    Gomez

We would basically put all our eggs in 90mins.
Our defense might be a little shaky but our mid/offense will be devastating.

I guess with this plan, the strategy could be to overwhelm them with offensive might and continue the pressure on them. Leave them in the Blackfoot as long as possible. Try to score as much as possible before they have any chance to do any kind of damage to us.

If played right it could end in 3-1 result for us.

Di Matteo already said they will play a la Italia, defending with 11 and playing in counter attack !! Tymo-Boa can do the job IMHO, and enough with this DvB nonsense FFS. A fit DvB already can screw up this final, imagine an unfit one ?!

Truth be told, I'm more worried about the fullback, because I have no trust at all in neither Contento or Rafinha ...

You think we would be able to break down Chelsea 11 man defense?

Van Buyten should return, i think Tymo will hurt us more at CB than Buyten.

Pranjic took a knock in today's match. Not a huge loss but let it be a warning. NOTHING'S worth any of our remaining going down before the Final...not even DFB Pokal.

I dont like Buyten but I think given the situation he might be ok.

Tymo doesnt look good at CB IMO

But were you really surprised? That's his biggest flaw. He goes in recklessly far too often. Oftentimes to compensate for being so slow or being beaten by more technical players but it's also something he will have to work out with time. If anything this can be a crucial learning lesson for him, as sad as the circumstances that surround it.
