14 year old salvadoran-american could apparently join the youth ranks at Lyon. http://www.selectatalent.com/index.php/component/content/article/34-active/69-rodriguez That article also has some BS about his "Desire" to play for El Salvador. Im not buying it, hes already apart of our system and if he wants to play in a world cup he aint doing it for El Salvador. Even Dustin Corea eventually turned them down. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-14-National-Development-Program/2009/01/U-14-BNT-Split-Squad-Earns-Two-Wins-Against-Local-Youth-Teams.aspx?print=true http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-15-Boys/2010/03/US-U15-BNT-Training-Camp-Underway-in-Bradenton-Fla.aspx heres his ussoccer bio http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/U-15-BNT/R/Christian-Rodriguez.aspx edit- let me add the obligatory youtube highlight video [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXZAAESY2n0"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXZAAESY2n0[/ame]
Great news. If he stays there, I would guess we have at least one candidates for the U-17 WC from outside Bradenton.
I think whats most impressive (at the 1:17 mark) is that this 14 yr old stud appears to have just dispossessed Marouane Fellaini! Cap him now?
Is this your site? Just wanted to say you're doing a good job. Hopefully people click and check it out. Is Rodriguez an American citzen, by the way?
Hi Dave, Yes. It is my site. Christian has dual nationality. Both of his parents are from El Salvador.
my first look at the article mentioning OL made me think there was some mistake, in it they talk about FC Lyon a completely different (and though older, now far less pretigious) club... in fact my son played there one season! but the picture definitely shows him in olympique lyonnais kit. that said, it's common to play kids in these tournaments who don't have licenses. i doubt OL would want to bring him into their academy at his age, it's just not deontological, but their interest may continue, in a couple of years he may indeed end up at tola vologe!
According to the sentence at the bottom of this article Christian Rodriguez is currently training/trialing with FC Groningen.
Snip: FC Groningen finished seventh in the table last season in the Eredivisie. Fellow U.S.-trained teenager Christian Rodriguez is currently a member of the youth academy for the club donned in green and white.http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/kentucky-teen-trials-in-netherlands_aid28920
Here he is mentioned in a December match report for an FCG youth squad: http://www.fcgroningen.nl/home/nieu...derlagentoernooi-verlies-tegen-achilles-1894/
Friedel'sAccent bungadiri thread title change in order: Christian Rodriguez at FC Groningen thanks in advance
Based on birthdates, despite the slightly different spelling, he is likely the guy who is or was at CD Fas in El Salvador. #FASvsJUV Debuta Cristian Rodríguez "El gringo" en la creación de FAS, ocupará la plaza de juvenil.— Club Deportivo FAS (@CDeportivoFAS) October 11, 2015 http://www.transfermarkt.com/cristian-rodriguez/profil/spieler/432724 This roster is seemingly well out of date: http://www.clubdeportivofas.com/Plantillas/plantilla_act_1a.html He's a '95, for the record.
According to the USL tracker, looks like he is now with the Tulsa Roughnecks: http://www.uslsoccer.com/transfer-tracker?home This article confirms it's the same guy. http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsext...cle_de8d1f84-2557-57f5-aea2-0047d6743d12.html
He made it back to El Salvador with Independiente last year. https://www.laprensagrafica.com/dep...ficho-con-el-Independiente-20190801-0196.html T'Markt indicates that he might still be there, with San Vicente. https://www.transfermarkt.de/christian-rodriguez/profil/spieler/432724
