    Q.E.P.D. :(

Deeply saddened and shocked to hear about this.

GUTTED! Despite me being critical of his move, it was looking out for his best footballing interests. Putting that to side, we lost a great player, and a great human being....one of the greats of his time. RIP Chucho, it was an honor to have met you and your family.

Doctors in Qatar can't treat a ********ing Appendicitis! What a ********ing disaster. As a Parent this was my biggest fear and I was ready!!! Roughly two years ago my son went through the same thing and I caught it extremely early. Rush him to the hospital. Confirmed, Surgery and back home in 3 days. My heart goes out to the Benitez family.

This is shocking news ! Life is strange ! I can never understand how these things happen... He was too young to die. He was at the peak of his career... My heart goes out to Chucho's loved ones... Rest in Peace Chucho !

It's just so insanely unexpected...and seemingly rudimentary. Tragic result. I'll call the Chala family later to express my condolences. Awful, awful, awful.

Benitez was rushed to the hospital in Qatar with stomach pains and NO DOCTOR was available. I'm extremely sad and so ********ing pissed off. Qatar spends all the money buying futbol shit and they don't even have doctors in the Hospital.

OMG I read he had a heart attack but he was only 27. If he died from a Appendicitis then the hospital he went to deserves to be shut down. Doesn't his team have doctors. Sad day for everyone and I was really hoping this was just a sick Internet joke. RIP

This just brings back so many memories of Otilino's passing. And both were such energetic figures- larger than life personalities.

It's been 8 years already. He was one of my favorite strikers as a kid even though he played for Emelec. I guess Chucho was right about his big money move to Qatar, his family will need it since he is gone.
