I wouldn't say it was uninspired either, I mean the thought of having a truly competitive, hardcore rivalry between two teams in a city could be an amazing thing, but sadly it hasn't been at all competitive on or off the field.
Really? That'd be surprising. Figured the ownership of the Scorpions would rather "promote" themselves than relocate. Unless there is a seperate group working...but that'd be strange.
Could just be buy/move the team and they'd "become" the scorpions or whatever, but it's all pretty much a moot point considering how Vegara apparently dismissed it despite being offered "the moon and the stars".
Yeah, that's my assumption too: SA wanted to buy the franchise -- not the team. In other words, the Scorpions would become an MLS team, and Chivas USA would cease to exist.
Whoever is responsible for all these pink slips at Chivas is welcome to head up here and hand out a bunch more.
Huh? Are you talking about Toronto FC, yeah I would agree. But not for Bigsoccer, it seems to be more successful than Chivas USA At least Vergara could have at least added LA to the name rather than USA. Why doesn't Garber step up and give put some pressure on Vergara.
The Miami Marlins are not impressed. They rebranded and got a stadium before returning to their Florida ways.
This is the killer quote to me: “It’s like being born again,” Vergara said. “In these years, this project got derailed. Angélica [Fuentes, Vergara's wife and busines partner] and I made the decision to buy out the Cue brothers for this reason. We wanted to make this dream come true several years ago but it didn’t happen. Now, we propose to achieve this dream.” Does he not realize the project got derailed because the project failed? That a different rail was taken because it actually led to a playoff game or two?
It'd be dangerous to be a fly on the wall at MLS HQ today. You know, with them all punching the walls and whatnot.
Really? A coach has one of the worst losing streaks in club history, line up change every game, no and you're disappointed they got rid of him? No one that follows Chivas USA even shed a tear when the news came out.
I've gotta feel for Shalrie Joseph, who ends-- in the twilight of his magnificent career-- jumping from the Kraft frying pan into the Vergara fire.
