Don't be surprised if Chivas USA sport a Mexican flag on their upper arm sleeve rather than an American one next season. This is truly a foreign team playing a foreign sport.
I wouldn't even care if it meant a consistent playoff-caliber team was added to the mix in MLS. But it won't--they will never deprive the mothership of players of enough quality to actually make the difference in MLS. That's the unsolvable problem. Ironically, the best formula for Chivas USA is to follow Club America's method--add top South American talent to the locals. But why would Vergara open the checkbook wide enough to get South Americans of true quality when that doesn't help his grand scheme of using CUSA as a feeder team?
Isn't this exactly what they did in their first season? I got the impression almost half of their roster was from the Chivas GDL reserve team. And IIRC, exactly one of those players didn't look completely out of his depth in MLS.
Yes. The expectation seems to be that Chivas USA is going to double-down on the failed 2005 strategy. Like I've said before, I really don't think Vergara is serious about keeping this team long term. So if he can bide his time and fumble along with his cronies running the team for a few years, then that's what he'll do.
So how many players will.remain on the roster?... I just don't see a lot of them staying for next year....
To achieve such perfections as it has, Chivas Goat'sboyz' would surely have required much much practice?
Here's a little insight on what's to come: http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nota/_/id/1657167/a-tres-anos-la-mudanza-chivas-usa- On a serious note, Cue had a true SoCal, American vision for the Goats but lacked the funds. Word around town was that he forced to sell by the MLS and Don Garber. Vergara justa wants to pimp Omnilife in America,
So I am assuming Vergara does not plan on selling the franchise and wants to build a 16k stadium. There is no mention as to perhaps a rebranding, which i still hope happens regardless of who the owner is. LA Chivas , LA Goats, CD Chivas LA. I could care less, but just not that Chivas USA moniker that makes the team sound minor league or like the subsidiary of a liquor brand.
I thought about editing and adding "positively" to my post. How are the ChivaGirls doing recently? I recall that talent was improving a few years ago, but there has been nobody to report on it recently as they have the Dynamo Girls and broadcast directors were fools to not show them for 90 minutes with intermittent shots of the the opposing team scoring. They even lost a couple girls to the Lakers this Summer. Melissa and Andi have moved on to the AEG bankroll. Congratulations!
Yup. Most Guadalajara fans don't care for Chivas USA unless your from California, but now that Vergara has taken over we have hear of all these changes and of course they are going to invest heavily on scouting because it will also benefit Guadalajara talent pool. I'm a little disappointed that he will focus on USa, but it's a new change team Cruyff is handling Guadalajara.
Well, I've been watching reports from the big Vergara press conference, and the future of Chivas USA is all too obvious: it looks just like 2005. Doubling down on failure.
