Sub20 plays tomorrow vs America for the pass to semis.

Sub17 qualified to semis over Tigres.

and Chivas Rayadas are 2da Division Champs!!! (Liga de Ascenso, no Nuevos Valores)

Only reference right now, more to follow I'd imagine-http://segundadivisionfmf.org.mx/equipo.asp?ID=135

This team is actually a loaner franchise from Tecos. I think they have to play Celaya as first round champs to see who makes it to Primera A (they just beat them in penalty shots in semis), and I'm not sure if they win if Tecos gets the franchise back, or if Chivas gets to borrow it in Primera A for longer.

Abraham Coronado is under 20, anyone know why he's not with the U-20 team? Which team gets the best players in that age group? Chivas Rayadas or Chivas U-20?

The U-17 team is in the semis after also eliminating Tigres. :D

Coronado is an interesting case because he's been injured, and has played/trained with the Mexican Sub20, besides the Chivas teams. Aside from the liguilla, he hasn't played much with the segunda team (Chivas Rayadas). But he also hasn't played that much with the Chivas Sub20, so both in games and total minutes he's played more with Chivas Rayadas.

Last year he split time between Sub17 and Sub20.

As to your question on who gets priority, I'd say normally it's the Sub20, if players make the age, because of proximity to the big team. However, since this year Chivas Rayadas, while officially located in Puerto Vallarta, actually play at the Omnilife, they probably juggle who goes where.

I hope he can get back to his level before his injury. He was by far our best player in the U-17 WC.

U16? Nice. We seem to have a stud forward in every age division.

What we need are creative midfielders. Don't get me wrong, forwards are welcome, but we need someone to feed them passes

We don't play with a AMC at the moment. Most of our assists come from our wingers which is fine by me considering all the talent we have at those positions.

    Fabian, Davila, Mora, Coronado, Casillas

Fabian is our best creative midfielder, the rest need playing time.

I know Fabian, but I forgot about Davila. Coronado and Casillas are more wingers then creative midfielders tho. Im looking for a gauchito, but bigger. Im also thinking about the national team. We dont have anybody that can break bunkers with vision and passing ability. God knows we need that.

I think fabian in the last tourney has played more of a forward/winger than midfielder.

Are you guys forgetting about chaton and gallardo?

    They are not creative midfielders.

Creative midfielder is a bad term to use because they arent really official terms for a position. Midfielder can be a winger and a contencion; so you must ask a more specific question than "who are our creative midfielders?". Chaton is going to be our starting contencion next to baez and pato being below them; and that pretty much takes care of our starting midfielders.

It is true that both wingers and CMs are both midfielders. However, Chaton as good as he is, is not a creative midfielder. I don't really think we need a creative center midfielder either. Our wingers and Cubo are dynamic enough.

That is my point. Using the phrase "creative midfielder" is not good describing a position or player, because it is a loosely based term that doesnt have a specific definition that is used more as a euphemism.

Cubo, arellano, fabian and veando are forwards used when we do a 442. But when we do a 433 we use cubo, fabian and arellano en la delantera.

Casillas can play anywhere upfront. He plays LW with the u17 because Potro doesn't play with a "10" but he can easily play behind the striker. You're right about Coronado, he usually plays on the right wing. The rest i see as attacking midfielders. By the way 4 of the 5 players I mentioned have something in common that is not seen too much in Mexican players.

I think the point he is trying to make is that we need a creative player, someone who creates and dictates plays. I agree that it is a very loosely defined term, but the general gist of it should be recognized by anyone who discussed football before.

In general terms like "dynamic midfielder", "holding midfielder", "creative
midfielder" should be clear enough and are used widely enough to be
understood. Hell even scout/pundits use these terms on a regular basis,
using terms like central-midfielder and winger is accurate but often not descriptive enough. A winger can have dynamic or creative qualities or in some(rare) cases both.

In the future I wouldn't be surprised if some of these terms became "official". After all the defensive-midfielder role wasn't strictly defined at first, they were essentially considered central-midfielders who dropped a few yards back. These days its considered a fairly separate role from that of the central midfielder. If you talk with anyone about tactics and start equating a defensive-midfielder with the central-midfielder, you'll be met with a puzzled look.

That said, I think Casillas looks more creative than a traditional winger. He doesn't really hug his line and generally looks to link with others or play a through ball. Mora has also been billed as a "10" from a number of people who have seen him play, but who knows! I would personally love it if we could play with a "10" again at some point, players like Avila/Bofo/Blanco create some of the most memorable moments in football.

Right. THat is why i said that that term is a bad way to use when talking positions. Casillas, davila, fabian, are all creators of plays.

Man am i salivating at the thought of Fierro pushing el cubo to become more consistent or else he might loose his spot to Fierro. I got to be honest about Fierro. This dude is special, very, very, special. Hes got more god given talent than chicharito, easy. Complete player.
