Chipotle has the best ingredients. Freebirds has an actual selection of burrito sizes which is nice if you can't tank 1400 calories in a sitting. Mission has that damn Cilantro Ranch, which is the fa shizzle. so all have pros and cons. But I am with Hungryjack-not happy about the price increase, but business is business.
You know they've brought the Monster Taco back right? That's the best thing Jack in the Box has done in the past several years.
Haha what a terrible headline! I heard the same story this morning on NPR. They go through something nuts like 97,000 pounds of avocado per day so if Cali droughts jack the price of avocados, they may have to stop selling it. ...and that would bring me right back to Freebird's despite by recent bitching I still need to try their Sofritas. Normally I just get the veggie burrito.
Agreed. A lesson in economics here. If Taqueria Arandas has avocados, and Chipotle doesn't, and I need an avocado, I'm not really concerned if it's organically grown or not, I'm going to Arandas. If Chipotle is going to survive climate change, then they'll need to perhaps change their methods and standards.
the Sofritas is good, damn good. Its been available at a couple of their DC stores for a few years. Also, bonus news: The Chipotle at Dulles airport is the only Chipotle that offers breakfast burritos. Chipotle buys regular ol' avocados, has nothing to do with organic or none.
http://www.chipotle.com/en-US/fwi/fwi.aspx It's likely not practical to buy local, and or organic in the case of avocados, and they may need to buy avocados where everyone else gets them.
http://www.latimes.com/nation/share...camole-20140305,0,1040665.story#axzz2v6zXoucs Looks like they're backing up a bit on the "guacopacolypse" alarm. (Credit to Drudge for that one.)
Interesting guacamole story..... When we went to the Dynamo game at Cancún, some of us ate before the game at a little bar sort of place off the plaza. It was good food, and they had a huge bowl of guacamole on a table you could help yourself to. It was one of those big serving bowls and no one there to watch how much you took. When it got low they filled it back up to the top. Unlimited, all you could eat, free guacamole. It seems like there was actually an avocado tree there in front of the bar, maybe they got free avocados, I don't know. When I left I ate lunch at the Margaritaville Restaurant at the airport. They had little tiki huts they pushed around serving guacamole. I asked for some for my hamburger and they charged me $5.00. Just for the guacamole. A scoop or two. I told the guy I had seen unlimited free guacamole downtown and he laughed and said it was crazy. He was funny anyway, he was singing along with all the Jimmy Buffet songs, but when I asked him if he was a fan he said he'd never heard of Buffet until he went to work there. He said the music was ok though, and he learned all the songs hearing them non-stop at work.
Hungry jack, boycott chipotle with me. Freebirds is clearly superior to Chipotle, yet both are delicious.
Why would I boycott a delicious choice? I got 15 points at Freebird right now, so my next Monster is free. That guarantees I'll be back at least once more!
I enjoyed burrito at the tailgate and then a victory burrito at home after the game. A successful promotion in my opinion.
The Sofarita is good but if you can find a place that'll make the legendary & secretive "Quesarito," you should try it just one. (and never have it again unless if you want die young) Chipotle Breakfast however, is news to me.
