I wish it was the easy. If it was then why have naval fleets at all except for moving troops and aircraft around? As soon as the submarine engages the enemy it declares its presence resulting in the Chinese navy sending the PROBSUB signal to the fleet and the standard ASW screens being applied. Anti-submarine rockets, torpedos, missiles and depth charges combined with sonar buoys can make life extremely difficult for any submarine once PROBSUB or, even worse, CERTSUB is declared. Every weapon has a counter so any US attack on Chinese forces would require both air and sea support initially. Sending in submarines without air or major naval support is sending those submariners to their depth. In the very, very unlikely situation that the US and China engaged themselves in the Taiwan Strait area it would be a combined naval/air engagement. I can't see it happening because: 1) The Chinese spent decades trying to get admittance to the WTO and this would risk that membership. 2) An invasion of Taiwan would gift the US an excuse to get out of Iraq stating they must defend the poor democracy from the communist invaders. 3) The US public has a history of turning quickly on leaders once they see their children returning to US soil in body bags. I can't see China starting a war that has little to no chance of long term success. It would cost thousands of lives on both sides and billions of dollars. The only people that would win would be the shareholders in the weapons companies that would be selling weapons to both sides. Crowdie
the solutution to this problem is simple enough: that is, an all out, "first strike" nuclear attack on the prc. simply liquidate several chinese cities.
Okay, then the question is - could chinese nuclear forces survive the first strike? Second question is - what would the Russians do?
the russians are incompetent mongoloids. we have nothing to fear from them. losing the cold war will always be a national shame for them. perhaps the nuclear attack against the prc should be even more ambitious. hundreds? of icbm's, etc., launched wave after wave. the goal being to bring chinese civilization to the end times. reduce them to the state they were at during the boxer rebellion. then we could name the dalai lama as thre acting head of state of what is left over.
Because they are so "imcompetent" that they would keep "missing" these nuclear war heads from the warehouse.
The only way China could invade Taiwan was if half million chinese soldiers swimmed from mainland China to Taiwan. It is called the half million chinese dive. China simply does not have the capability to transport and support a large force needed to invade Tawian. It is estimated that the chinese could, even with no possible (and likely) losses accounted, deploy 8000 men per day. Taiwan can deploy 50000 men per day to counter any chinese attack.
Which is why a US president pledging to back Taiwan is completely unneccessary, and therfore dumb as doodoo. It antagonizes, or gives China an excuse to pretend that it is antagonized, for no good reason.
With the amount of US and Chinese satellites in orbit you can't have a "first strike" as the Chinese can see any major troop movements or missiles put into the air. By the time the missile hit the Chinese mainland the Chinese ones would be well on their way to their tagets. This is the stupid thing about nuclear weapons - by using them to are admitting defeat. The US tried to stay out of the second world war. In the US it was called the "European War". By the time the US appeared the ANZAC troops had already secured the Commonwealth's first win against the Japanese. Crowdie
