Fingers crossed that Vidal's surgery goes well. He was overused this season by Conte. It wasn't so much the 43 starts for Juventus in all competitions and 6 substitute appearances, it was more that he was played a few times when he was not close to 100%.
Conte continued to put Vidal on the field when it was all ready common knowledge that his health was in jeopardy, thus risking him. Had he gotten the surgery weeks to a month ago we wouldn't have to worry about him potentially missing the WC. Also, when the Chilean/international press would question Conte about Vidal's overall health status, his typical response generally involved him saying that Juventus is primarily the one that should be worried and not Chile due to them paying his salary, etc. A very selfish attitude coming from the Italian, and totally uncalled for considering that the biggest stage in futbol is over a month away.
x2. Unfortunately, True. He screwed Chile, and he screwed Vidal. He put on top of the list, his own priorities, which was to win. Fortunately they got eliminated at the Uefa league cup, otherwise Vidal wouldn't be allowed to go to Barcelona to make exams and see for his probable surgery, and most probable, Conte would make him play the whole 90 minutes of the next game as well. This is another issue to consider, by all those who wish Alexis Sanchez to leave Barcelona and head to Juventus, as in the same situation, this "crook" that calls himself as coach, will not hesitate and screw him as well. Probably Juventus top administration, also were aware about this issue. It wouldn't be first time they are linked to "odd" issues. But as Conte clearly said, "they are the owners of Vidal", and can do with him whatever they wish for......
Let me say this about Conte: He may one day become a great manager, but he has shown that he is a considerable way away from that in the last 3 seasons (2011-12, 2012-13 & 2013-14). In this mentioned period of time, the Serie A has been the weakest of the big leagues in Europe (e.g. AC Milan and Inter have been a shadow of what they were in past years, and Italian teams have not been as competitive as seasons past in Europe). He has been given one of the deepest and most impressive rosters in European football, with worldclass players in every position, yet he has achieved nothing in Europe. How is this possible? One would think that a top tactician would make this team a top 8 European side, at least. He has depended on his A grade squad to bring him success in the league, and he has bled-dry guys like Vidal and Pogba all season (these two are the workhorses; that is the reason why their market value is so high). The problem for key pieces like Vidal and Pogba is that Conte intends on continuing to milk them for everything they have next season, unless their numbers in 2013-14 can convince bigger European teams to make big offers for their contracts. In other words, if Vidal stays on at Juventus any longer while Conte is in charge, his body will burn out. My thoughts on Vidal's future: If it's possible, he should let another club buy out the rest of his contract at Juventus and leave in the pre-season. That would be the smartest move if he wants to extend his career a bit more. On a side note, if the rumours are true about Mauricio Isla and Borussia Dortmund, then I would back Isla to head to Germany. Jurgen Klopp wants a solid replacement for the injured Jakub Blaszczykowski.
Well actually Kuba (that's his nickname) hasn't played that much of a significant role at Dortmund for a while now, and for the most part when he does play, Kloppo plays further up the pitch. Isla would be in direct competition with Piszczek, methinks.
