Re: Reinaldo Navia, LDUQ (R) (News, etc...)

Agreed, Navia should be in Chilenos en el exterior. Why have his own thread?
Even Lobos who has a decent chance at getting called up, and playing in
Europe doesnt have his thread. I feel guilty for replying to this thread.

He dived in the PK against him and his goal was offside... Navia's definitely back. :D

Some Argentine guys bought his pass from the Mexican team that owned it... but from what I know he was loaned to Everton one more time and will play Copa Libertadores for them... all of this for the modest price of US $30,000 dollars (???).

I'm a little surprised Everton was able to pull it off... the Mexicans were pretty much laughing at the 30,000 dollars offer... I thought it was pretty low myself.

Yeah, in fact theyre negotiating this very minute. The deal is around $2 million. A little more if Colo-Colo gets their way. Also heard Flamengo wants Jara too.

Yep, Jara is being speculated. Fierro already said he has already signed a 4 year deal. Can anyone tell me what they think of him?

Well, to be brutally honest. He sucks horribly at national team level, however on Colo-Colo he is consistent, has good offensive traits and is good at defending. Can also play in multiple positions. Either winger forward, winger, or wingback. However, u r getting what you paid for. If Flamengo was payin 10 million then id say ur getting horribly screwed. But then again, im a La U fan and he is from ColoColo :)

Jara started his career as a sweeped with Huachipato and the U20s, and eventually got shifted to CB and now usually plays as a LCB. At CC, last year he played a lot of LWB (even though he's not lefty). I think he's a more than decent CB, very promising and even though he may not be as good in the air as Ponce for example, he's good at coming out of the back with the ball at his feet. Solid signing, and a much better prospect than Fierro, imho (Fierro was rumoured to be joining SPFC a few years back, don't know if anyone remembers?). :)

Navia should have his own thread because he has a year contract playing for a team that is the:
    -Current Copa Libertadores champions
    -Current Ecuadorian league champions
-Are playing in the Copa Sudamericana
-Will be competing in the FIFA Club World Cup
-Will be defending their Copa Libertadores title in 2009
-Will be playing for the Recopa Sudamericana

Rubio should have his own thread too, since his team are current Swiss League leaders and have a secured a group stage spot in the Champions League. From there FC Basel could be eliminated, go to the next round, or enter the UEFA Cup.

Both players will be in the middle of a lot of action.

Jara is a solid player that is talented at defensive positions, Borghi had him playing as LWB many times with Jara doing quite well driving up the flanks. Injury put a damper on strong run that he was having in that position.

Recently, both former Colo Colo manager Astengo and national team coach Bielsa prefer him as a CB, He was chosen as the captain of the Chilean national team during the Toulon tournament, and in the last qualifying match scored his first national team goal against Venezuela.

But all of that gets canceled when we look at the fact that
    A) Hes bad now
    B) WAY past his prime
    C) Zero chance for national team
D)May be the Lib. Champions, but still Ecuadorian team.
    E) No one left for this thread if everyone has their own thread.

IMO. Players not playing for good L.American teams like Ormeno, Ponce, Rocco and Navia should be in this thread. There is a Chilean playing in Bolivar who also is in Copa Sudamericana but he doesnt deserve a thread.....
    I hope.

Navia is playing for a good team did you forget that they won the Copa Libertadores one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, fluke or not that's an historic achievement. They did sell off two of their key players such as Vera and Guerron but still have Bolanos in their ranks.

They will and are competing in a total of 4 international tournaments; FIFA Club World Cup, Recopa, Copa Libertadores, and currently the Copa Sudamericana. That's more activity than what Ormeno or Ponce are doing at the moment, and right now that's more than any other South American club will be doing.

It will be a different discussion if Navia gets injured, or his contract doesn't get renewed after the one year loan. For the time being he's part of a team that have a busy schedule.

There are still other Chilean players that are capable of making news on this thread who aren't playing for better teams. Mancilla, Droguett, Sebastian Gonzalez, Sebastian Rozental, Mancilla, Villanueva...........
