Cheech is a boss against Chelsea at the very least. When Cheech's touch isn't on, he isn't going to be one that unlocks a defense. Heck, even when it is on it he isn't going to do so. johno is 100 percent right that this side would look a lot better with RVP and Carrick on the pitch.
I wouldn't be even surprised if we dont go past the first round. I really wouldn't. We are slow and lack creativity.
Clearly Rooney having to basically play midfield and be the only one apparently responsible enough to to backtrack is lost on jeff.
He's fine if we play 442 and we're trying to create a bunch of chances and playing high risk/high reward style football, but in a more considered game, he's more useful as a shock and awe type sub.
Is Cheech's touch EVER "on"? You all are correct in saying he isn't the creator and will never be the one to unlock a defense. That much is clear and has been since the day he set foot on English soil. However, my point is, I'm just wholeheartedly opposed to such limited players being on the club to begin with, apart from in a supersub role...ESPECIALLY given that we're not nearly where we should be in terms of quality and depth of squad, by our standards and those of the very best clubs. There's no question RvP and Carrick would change the game dramatically. That's just the point. With the players around him in this formation, Cheech is just too limited as a player to have any sort of impact as a starter.
Cheech's touch has shown real improvement this season so far. It isn't top percentile stuff, but it has been far better then it has been in the past.
Read the posts. He does make impacts in meaningful games, it just depends on how we play. He also has 6 goals in 9 appearances against Chelsea. He could earn his wages playing just against Chelsea at this rate.
i find it hilarious to see how many black players in europe sport cornrows. completely played out in north america.
I am reading the posts, I acknowledge he is effective in a 4-4-2 and have no problems with using him as a sub. I guess what it comes down to is ideology. Hernandez is only effective in the gung-ho 4-4-2 you described, which is a formation I don't like us playing except against pure dross. And even then...
