Did we wave said fees for the SuperCup or did those not apply for it not being a real competition (yeah I said it)?
no I do not think the fee was in place then and IIRC the club and Lochillon consented to Courtois playing against us as they wanted to evaluate him a good case of our arrogance getting the way there
I would not be surprised to see Courtios being loaned again as part of a deal for Costa mind you I thought the same would occur this past window
It was Falcao who almost single handidly killed us. Don't think if would have made a difference if he didn't play.
Just saw this stat on the Twitter machine. (@OptaJoe) "98 - Jose Mourinho has made 98 out of a possible 99 substitutions in the Premier League this season. Tinker."
Chelsea Youth @chelseayouth 8h As I suggested then. RT @HLNinEngeland Atléti chairman: "Courtois won't play if we draw CFC, as we're unwilling to pay." Between 6 & 10m€.
but is that really that big of a surprise or not normal? don't most managers take all 3 subs in most games? anyone got stats for that? we usually make fun of a manager that DOESN'T use all of his subs (Wenger). what am i missing?
yea i thought so. that's why i don't get why that's really worthy of note. we all are surprised when managers DON'T use their subs. not when they do.
actually just had a peak and he was not that bad but did have quite a few games where he did not use all of his subs- especially in the Europa League
I remember Hodgson at Fulham very rarely used subs. Bizarre. I think the stat is just jumping on the few times Jose has been unorthodox, ie making subs before half time or 3 subs all at once.
5 million quid that is the price apparently we could waive the fee - IF they lower their price for Diego Costa maybe? IF we don't waive the fee - if he is unable to play for them - then they have a great excuse if they lose . . . Doomed IF we do and doomed IF we don't . . . We'll end up drawing that German team anyways. . .
This is a whole article written around one quote Jose made about it taking at least two weeks. Not bothered.
This was just posted in the ESPN Boot Room chat for the Champions League Draw: Tom Doyle An update on the Thibault Courtois issue for you now - UEFA have released a statement this morning that says "…any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned."
