I was just wondering what you fellow Romanisti would prefer as a trophy. Would you rather see I Giallorossi win Champions League or Lo Scudetto? I would definitely prefer Champions League. We have a BRUTAL European record and we are looked at as minnows when it comes to European play, but when you look at us in Italy, we are already considered "Italian Giants" I feel we have much much more to prove in Champions League rather than Serie A. It is our turn to conquer Europe. FORZA LUPI!!!!
Good question. Both would be so great, wouldn't they? But I think I'm going to have to go with Lo Scudetto because of the celebration implications. I was in Rome when they won it in 2001, and it was a sight. Murals, banners, flags, etc. all over the city, for weeks. Yes, there would be all of those things if they won the Champions League too, but it wouldn't be as directly rubbing it in the face of the Lazio fans. I'll go with Lo Scudetto.
Of course it was a crazy scene. I unfortunately wasn't there but my computer is loaded with pics and videos of that year. ANYWAYS, of course we can still rub it in Lazio's face. If you were a Lazio fan what would you rather see Roma do? CONQUER EUROPE OR CONQUER ITALY? Obviously they would want us to conquer Italy instead. If we conquer Europe other teams look at Lazio (City rivals) like minnows, BUT if we just conquer Italy other teams like Juve, Milan and Inter already know how Roma is compared to Lazio. It wouldn't be that big of a case. lol I hope you know what I mean, I can't describe it for ********.
Of course with be amazing, but getting any trophies this season would be impressive for AS Roma. AC Milan and Inter Milan are the only REALLY tough sides this season, IMHO. I have always believed that the CL is part skill and part luck. I think Lo Scudetto is a damn fine solid accomplishment, but hoisting the CL trophy puts you on the map in Europe and around the globe to draw tons of new supporters, which ultimately will mean more revenues for buying great talent.
Yeah, I see what you mean. Maybe the CL would be better. Either way there is plenty of rubbing it in! How about getting both, now that would really make the laziali run and hide!
I would inlcude Juve and Roma on that short list. IMHO it will be a 4-team race for Lo Scudetto this year. Great point...but I believe in defending your home turf first, then going on to greater glory in other competitions. Ask any Serie A team competing in the CL, what their most important goal is this season, and I am confident that they will reply Lo Scudetto and not CL trophy. Just my opinion
Also if you ask most of the local fans (or anyway all my friends who live in Rome and the surrounding areas) which one is more important, they will tell you lo scudetto. Then again, there would be a great scene if they took the CL as well.
Totti said he really wants the Champion's League and could care less about the Scudetto. But, if Roma has those mediocre results in Europe again, you'll see Roma pushing hard for Lo Scudetto.
I don't know if Totti could "Care less" about Lo Scudetto, I'm 100% sure that he will push for Roma's 4th Scudetto, but yeah I think he would rather have CL considering he is at the peek of his career.
Totti said that since he already won the scudetto that he wants to focus on the Champions League. I don't think that he said that he could care less. Even the Coppa Italia is a trophy that has elluded Totti, but I'm sure that he would be motivated to win that as well. He just wants to prove himself on an international stage (a chance that he pi$$ed away in Portugal). Totti has to realize that people in other countries don't care about him and don't like him. He needs to consider other teams as he does teams from northern Italia and go for their throats!! I think that we can challenge for the scudetto again, but I am not sure about our depth for international play. I think that will play a huge factor in how we do in the CL. I think that we will go for it though and not hold back in Europe or play "B" teams against sides like Villareal. I don't think that Prandelli will be as prudent as Capello when it comes to playing in Europe . Given the summer tournaments and injuries and an unfinished mercato, I think that alot remaines to be seen about this Roma side. Giallo come il sole........ Rosso come il cuore mio!!!
