i believe the rules state that whoever has scored more goals away from home in the head-to-head competition goes through if the record is even

    Ah. Indeed, you are correct.

"If [the head to head] record is even, the side who has scored more goals away from home in the two matches between the two sides in question progresses."

Oh well, I tried. That is indeed bizarre.

I suppose I should somewhat defend UEFA in that I believe this rule was recenlty changed in the wake of some shall we say "very interesting" last day match results in which goal difference was daramatically impacted by significant goals being scored and/or conceeded

I can not remember the specific games or teams but I do remember similar events have occured over the past few seasons and this was their response

If we win, Fat Bastard will continue on here. If we lose (or draw), he is 99.9% out, especially if Juve loses.

I think I'll just watch stoically and whatever will be will be.

If you don't want a win there is seriously something wrong with you.

No, there's a fairly obvious logic in not wanting to win in this case. Of course the things are so bad that I'm not sure getting Rafa out now will help us in any way or form so I would still prefer to win.

I don't know how you can call yourself a Chelsea fan and want us to lose. (FTR: I'm not specifically pointing at anyone here. But if you're mentality is wanting us to lose simply because there's a greater chance of firing Rafa, that's wrong.)

I don't care how shitty things have been with the FSW. Get behind the team.

    C'mon, Chels! C'mon Shakhtar!

Odd that Azpilicueta doesn't get the start. Apparently Rafa hasn't taken notice of his good performances. That's a bit annoying. And no Mikel or Oscar either. I'm okay with those decisions.

Ivan needs a rest i think. went straight from the right, to plugging the hole in the middle. hopefully he gets a rest next game.

as for the wanting to lose to get rafa out....does anyone really think there is any way he is out before the end of the season? lose or not, i think we're stuck with him until May at the earliest.

but don't worry about it guys, we're bringing back Jose...........:D

not sure. the personnel isn't dictating that at least. team Ram/Rom ( :D ) in the middle. but who of Moses, Mata, and Hazard would play in the middle 3? if Oscar was in then i could see it. that being said, glad Moses is getting a run.

I'm assuming talking about other results, i.e. Shakhtar v. Juve, is permissible today?

think if we are able to get a couple of early goals (insert laughter here)

it may actually put some pressure on Juve to hold on for the result and who knows
