We beat them I think a bit more than they beat us, but the record isn't quite as 80-20 as you think. Especially when we have Badstuber out, Boateng suspended and Dante with 2 yellows. What would happen if Boateng gets suspended for both matches and Dante gets a yellow in the first tie which is very possible (it's in Madrid). Have fun playing Martinez and Buyten together, an ogre that gets killed by speed (Madrid's strength counter attacking) and Martinez that has played a grand total of 1 match in Munich.
Not going to save us dude, but he does add stability to the back. You think DVB is the solution here?
I'd rather go against United than Madrid although we are totally capable of playing both of them. Madrid are still Madrid and Mourinho is wary of the threat we pose.
Honestly apart from Celtic or the Turks... Getting arsenal or Milan wouldn't worry me at all, they are so weak ATM and not sure how they'll cope come feb... They may implode even more by then
I obviously think we can beat anyone but considering the yellow potential suspensions and Boateng suspension, Madrid wouldn't be a good fit for us so soon.
Lots of talk of bayern suspensions and yellows....but how bout the other potential quarterfinal opponents?
That's a whole mess of lists to sort through.. Any list expert out there?? Maybe we wait till draw then worry about their suspensions.
UEFA already have one of those lists and it's quite easy to filter through it. Go to Player statistics -> Disciplinary, and you can filter by team or player position. Easiest to filter teams and only leave possible Bayern opponents. http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsle...=2000347/players/kind=disciplinary/index.html
I believe that who we draw, (and how harshly the UEFA disciplinary board acts regarding Boateng's stupid slide), will determine how likely the FO will be to acquire another CB during the winter window. My own preferences are the same as last year: I want a team that is not hard physical defenders likely to foul. We are beat up enough already and a physical game increases the chances that we pick up more stupid cards. By that standard we'd probably be best off with RM and definitely don't want Galatasaray. I'd take a loss in the CL knockouts over losing another player for a chunk of the Rückrunde when we need to keep momentum for the BL.
Just saying that I'd rather Bayern be out of the CL and win the BL than be beat up and barely hanging on in the CL and get reeled in again in the BL. We're weathering the injuries better this season, but we've seen what having a thin squad in January does to our BL lead.
please give me Celtic or Gala. I want a very easy draw so we can win it away from home and have our guys ( Martinez, Schweini and Dante) pick up suspensions in the first leg so we can be ready for the 1/4 finals. Playing Madrid would suck because you know that a minimum of two out of those three will be suspended for the second leg and playing them is usually a mess and no matter how good it feels to beat them, I still would not wanna risk it this early. let them play Juve and give me something like celtic or gala. the down side to drawing one of those two is that the FO would not buy a CB which we clearly need
Surely Boateng will only get a 1 game suspension for a border line red card. If that is the case I will take Madrid thanks. Play Martinez for a few games in the BL in January/February 2013 as a centre back and then for the first leg. Gustavo will be back by then yes?
So the draw is Thursday 11:30 Central European time. So that's 7 hours ahead of central time USA. Which means the draws will be set by the time I wake up in the morning. I won't have to stress about it at work all day, at least. Plz easy draw
Peter Schmeichel: There are 3 clear favorites to win the Champions League: Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United. HUahuahuahauhauhauahuahauhauhauahuahauhauhauahuahauhauhauhauahuhauhauhauhau LOL ... ROFL ... LOLWROFL ... I literally almost died of laughter ...
Taken from another board: The draw is set to be made tomorrow (Thursday) at 11:30 CET / 5:30am ET. Sky Sports reports that UEFA conducted a rehearsal draw today to test cameras and graphics equipment and the draw came out like this: Valencia CF (ESP) - Paris Saint-Germain FC (FRA) Real Madrid CF (ESP) - Manchester United FC (ENG) AC Milan (ITA) - FC Barcelona (ESP) FC Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR) - Borussia Dortmund (GER) Arsenal FC (ENG) - FC Bayern München (GER) FC Porto (POR) - Málaga CF (ESP) Celtic FC (SCO) - Juventus (ITA) Galatasaray AŞ (TUR) - FC Schalke 04 (GER) I can live with this..
