http://www.mlssoccer.com/blog/post/2012/02/23/are-celtic-burning-bridges-or-fanning-flames-seattle I come in peace. Surprised nobody has seen or posted this yet. I would personally be a little upset if I was a sounders fan. But as the article points out, it's pretty laughable considering yalls fantastic fan base up there
I think it's going to hurt people's respect for Celtic more than it will get Celtic supporters to come out for Santos. Santos supporters will come out for Santos, which is arguably a bigger brand in Cascadia anyway.
LOL not a big deal. Just showing some support for their sister club. I doubt it makes any difference in the level of support for either side.
Is this for real? I've seen some Irish pubs around that have some kind of Celtic crest/banner in their walls. Does it mean that they are against us in the CCL?
Yes, it is for real. That being said, will the Seattle Celtic supporters really care? I would love for the europosuers to be jeered if they did come out though.
I was saving it for the Santos game thread. but other than that, I don't really care. I highly doubt that there is going to be anyone that is a Celtic supporter that will support Santos over the Sounders.
n anyway, every CCL game we've had here has brought out a good contingent of support for the other team, so if a few Celtic fans did show up for Santos, my guess is they're impact would be lost among all the actual Santos fans at the game.
Because I was hoping somebody from BS.com who has better access to them would try to ask. What else is the purpose of BS.com? Yeah, I saw that link. But for me it looks like some random guy posing as a Celtic fan. In my opinion, he might be a *scum fan. Yeah. It's just that I don't want to watch the away game in an Irish pub where there are Celtic fans cheering for Santos. But, I'm not planning on watching the game in an Irish pub anyway, so I guess it shouldn't matter to me.
Go to the bar have a pint, watch a match and ask the bartender/ owner about their Celtic banner and if they will be supporting Santos or ask random people on an internet message board who have nothing to do with said pub.
Since I can't do option #1 (not before the Santos game), I'll just do option #2. It has a 0.1 % possibility of success, and it's still better than 0%. Well, the worst thing that can happen is McGirt replying to the board. FYP
I contacted all the Celtic supporters and bar owners in Seattle and it turns out they'll be supporting Santos. Problem?
Unless you're from there, I fail to see how there's a single SPL team worth following. What a dull league.
I'm a Galaxy supporter and a Celtic guy and I'll be rooting for the Sounders. I see no reason why I should do anything to help an FMF team at this point considering how their their supporters choose to act. Anyway, I find it hard to take anyone seriously who doesn't support their local team unless they're a true transplant. Good luck, after this it's back to hatin'!
Celtic, St. Pauli, Livorno, L'OM, Rayo Vallecano, Standard Leige and others all garner support for reasons other than football.
Business is business, we currently have one of their players on our first team and they have one of our young guys in their lower ranks. Santos should be coming to Seattle in good form.
