Re: Catalonian National Team (a what if) Just out of curiosity, can a naturalized player that's been capped for another football association other than Spain still play for Catalonia? Like for example Messi? (Not that he would have the time to do that.) The game's a bit flat by the way.
Re: Catalonian National Team (a what if) 62' subs Argentina: Di Maria in for Higuaín (who's jeered as he leaves) Catalunya: Cristian in for Luis García Ángel in for Gerard 63' CAT Long ball out of defence finds Serrano who advances and shoots from a narrow angle left side of goal, Ustari blocks out for corner. 64' ARG Ansaldi shot from 18 yards kept out of goal by Morales diving to his left 66' Attendance announced at 42,000+ 72' sub Argentina Biglia in for Messi (who receives loud applause from all) 74' ARG GOOOOOL! Kun on the left passes far side to Biglia whose shot is miskicked to Lavezzi who slams home from 12 yards.
Re: Catalonian National Team (a what if) I don't see any problem given that any match Catalunya plays is not sanctioned by FIFA. There's a part of me that wants to say that Stoichkov once played for Catalunya but I'm not 100% positive.
Re: Catalonian National Team (a what if) 75' sub CAT: Triguero in for Soriano 84' sub ARG: Zárate in for Lavezzi 90' sub ARG: Rueben for Kun
Re: Catalonian National Team (a what if) Ah, my bad. *hits self on forehead* I didn't think this needed its own thread and decided to post it here. An [R] would be welcomed.
Re: Catalonian National Team (a what if) Yet he tried many individual plays , just like the whole team. Thats the whole problem with the team . Have such great players juist need to work as a team to be successful. Tremendous talent . Should be a good to see them in the Olympics Didn't get too see much of Messi, just concerned as he will play non stop without taking any well needed vacation.
Apparently he did very well as reported by elmundodeportivo! He was subbed off at the beginning of the second half.
Next opponent announced. Sunday 28 December Catalunya -v- Colombia Venue and kickoff time to be determined. SPORT EMD FCF website

no Xavi like last year, i guess they couldnt get Fabregas and also the 2 Barce goalies arent gonna be there either, a young attack for the Catalans but the defense is pretty outrageous with Pique Puyol in the middle and a Capdevilla playing out left. i like, and hoepfully Sergi Busquets shows his potential.
