Corona wins it near post, heads it on, put away by Aguilar? Anyway, well worked free kick.

Actually, I don't think that was going in without the help it got.

Nice. I couldn't tell if it was Corona who flicked it on. Aguilar with the back-post poach

If I am a scout looking at Xolos, I think:

    1. Arce, the man I want as finished product.
    2. Corona, the man I want to work into the side as complete CM.
    3. Edgar castillos is who I want as LM, converted from LB.

On the Toluca goal, I'd say there was blame to go around -- for both the build-up and finish -- but Castillo was very much at fault for the cross. However, it would be unfair to characterize his game thus far as bad. He's been good aside from that mistake.

Castillo still looks like a defensive liability to me. hard to believe he's the starting left-back for the best defense in Mexico...
any Spanish speakers in here? the commentators were talkin' about Castillo quite a bit in the first half...

Maybe I should knock on wood when saying how well Castillo is playing. He just gave up a dangerous shot from the attacking top right of the box.

I think you're onto something moving Castillo to LM.

Aw, Castillo gets worked into Toluca's box, but plays the cross a 1-2 yards too far and out for a GK.

Castillo defends a little too casually for my taste in this match, namely by not marking tightly enough. Sometimes it seems he is trying to provide some cover by tucking in a bit. I think he would be better served by letting his mates do their jobs and covering his man more tightly.

That said, he has been very instrumental in Tijauna's build-up. Sweet passes.

I've been surprised JK hasn't given Castillo a look at left mid. He and Fabian could be a menace on that side and as MF's go, Castillo defends pretty well.

Castillo with a shot straight at keeper. It's in the water I think.

Castillo is probably one of the top 5 players in the world for quickness/acceleration. He is out of this world. But it has little use as LB. I think they place him at LB because they want him on the pitch but want the least amount of liability.

For those not watching, or who may not recognize him, Toluca's coach is Enrique Meza, former coach of Mexico.

I've conveniently used that fact to turn this match into USA versus Mexico.

literally came here to say the same. With some of the non existent performances we've gotten from guys played out of position, Castillo should get a shot there.

Surprised you would think that. I'd say he has been a bit of a liability in defense, and playing him at LM as you earlier suggested would be less so.

He just weaved through the defense like it was nothing. Not very many americans (if any) could've come up with something like that. His touch is iffy i but i feel like he's so talented that he could be a great player with the right coaching.

Terrible giveaway from Castillo:thumbsdown: which leads to a speculative shot from distance which goes high. Thats just a sample of why i would never feel comfortable with him at LB.

did show his wheels to get forward, though. just needs to clean everything up a bit, imo, whenever i've seen him. gets beat for positioning, decision making, strength, etc. not for speed, tho.

Yeah, shaky defending there again. I love what he brings to the attack, but your LB needs to be solid in defense above all else.

    And Castillo draws a PK!!
