December 8, 1980. I heard it announced on Monday Night Football. That and JFK, MLK Jr., and RFK being shot are landmark sad and bitter occasions for me. Oh, and 9/11.
The Wikis have him at KHTK in Sacramento, apparently some sports station. I have to see if that is on iHeart radio just to give a listen at some point.
I went to high school with RFK youngest daughter; Ethel was pregnant with her when RFK was killed. I always wondered what it was like to have a dad that was so famous but you never knew him.
Happy anniversary, LB! I used to love going to Stuckey's when we were on road trips. They had all kinds of cool junk in there.
i think i've only been to one or two stuckey's ever. i don't believe there are/were any out in the far west.
That would be Rory, the documentary director? It was also her wedding JFK Jr was flying up to the Cape for when he crashed. Talk about star crossed.
Right. The Stuckeys lived on Loughboro Road in DC. In high school (I'm seeing a theme for this day) I had a crush on Scott Stuckey. I think he worked at Uno's. I saw some article about him a few years ago, he was producing kids shows or music or somesuch (too lazy to look it up). As far as the road stops I'm pretty sure I went to one or two in my day. People loved their taffy I think, but since I hate taffy the lure was lost on me.
I never went to one; but what I remember them advertising all the time was peanut brittle. Which was probably a factor in my not wanting to visit one, because I never really liked peanut brittle that much.
I don't understand Bootsy. Peanuts, sugar, butter. What's not to love? It's sweet, it's salty, it's crunchtastic!
This is what a real American would say I love peanut brittle, pecan brittle, cashew brittle ......... I even saw a weird hazlenut brittle once that I might consider trying The chick I saw make it cut it up and made biscotti with it. I'd be more likely to try it on its own though.
I hear what you're saying. It's not unlike what I say to Mary regarding the Cincinnati-style practice of serving chili with noodles. But I'd rather just eat the peanuts, or peanut butter.
I was laughing my ass off last night watching The Daily Show - Jon was talking about Michelle O'Bachman buying like 4,000 votes in the Ames straw poll - but then beating the field with about 3,200 votes - he pointed out that she received roughly 80% of the votes that she paid for - heck, about the same percentage of dentists think you should chew sugary gum as took her money and didn't vote (or voted for someone else)
