considering martin rogers has never, ever gotten anything right in any column he's written, i'm thinking there is no chance of him leaving. but if he does that will severely suck, he's easily the best player on the team this year. mr. consistency

    Quick question for y'all:

Co-worker here clearly doing the nervous cough/clear the throat thing. Every two minutes. I am going insane.

Is there anything I could possible say or do to get co-worker to stop?

Is it new that they're doing this? Or is this a new co-worker, and this appears to be a quirk of theirs?

If the former, ask if they're OK.

If the latter, you're fscked. I had exactly the same problem last year.

That'd be my approach, the quiet direct approach. You can always count on R&B for the kinder, gentler manner.

I stepped out for lunch and heard one of our chants (a bunch of whoa's and a U-NI-TED) and thought, WTF? Looked around just in time to see the convertible with 7' trophy going by! Not close enough to flag them down though. Of course, if I had flagged them down they'd just give me a free t-shirt, and I don't have near enough DC United/Barra t-shirts...

you can never have enough DC United t-shirts - you have to wear something while cleaning/gardening/grilling/walking around before you shower/to bed when it's cold/give to kids in the family or neighborhood ;)

Thats what my black out t shirts have been doing for some time -- now I have the "trophies" in heavy rotation.

I know I'm an idiot from discussing soccer in soccer related fora, but the EPL TV contract has brought out the idiots. I'm not naive enough to think that MLS is better than the EPL, and I know that given the two options, people will choose the superior league to watch.

But I cannot believe the amount of idiots who:

    1. Talk about a the EPL reaching a "more cultured" and "educated" audience as if having soccer knowledge makes MLS completely unwatchable

    and/or

    2. Pretty much come out and say that now that the EPL is on ESPN, "hardcore" soccer fans won't watch MLS because, apparently, they were so hardcore they didn't get Fox Soccer before and only watched MLS on ESPN by default and the definition of "hardcore" is someone who only watches the higher level of play and doesn't seek out the spor in pretty much any form they can.

I know I'm stupider than these people than arguing with them, but it appears as soccer is the one sport where being an avid fan includes watching as little of the sport as possible because you are such a conniseaur, you can't be bothered with the tripe.

Shit, I draw the line at soccer from Columbia; but in a pinch I'll watch that too. MLS is decent football but I also watch the Russian League on Setanta, and WPS, so I'll watch just about any sawker. But the main reason I watch MLS is my home town team, that I have season tickets for, plays in it. It's my national professional league. That's why I watch it. I love watching the EPL and even though Natty won't believe it I like La Liga as well. I watch die Bundesliga and Serie A too.

So just tell those jerks to go attempt to have intercourse with themselves.

WTF, you got a problem with the team from the District of Columbia? Damn, it's like I don't even know you, man...

...now, soccer from Colombia, well, that's right out. ;)
