I like the red spot on the forehead from where they shot it to make it into steaks :) And why does it say 1996? It's copyrighted in 2004 (well, activated anyway). I guess they had to use the Shawnee silver somewhere ..... and does that mean they built their stadium over a Shawnee burial ground and they are making penance?
To Bovine Blue all I can say is MOO.

Good Morning folks, happy Friday the 13th :D

Oh Lisa said she thinks the "L" hurricane this year is LISA - so between she and DaniD we could be in for a stormy end of the summer. (bad grammar is ok when it rhymes).

Good time in Charm City last night despite the rain. Strange goings on at the stadium to include bats, kestrels, ejections and what seemed to be every stripper in Baltimore with the night off in attendance. I could have lived without the overly amorous 40+ something couple on the shuttle bus ride back, however.

They're really improving the halftime show, huh?

There's slutty/hot and slutty/trashy and most of these girls were on the trashy side of slutty. One of them came into our section and was very impressed with herself and the attention she was getting. I thought her little "stripper handshakes" to the guys sitting around her were a little much. But she and most everyone else in the stadium was gone by the middle of the third quarter.

How do you feel about this?

According to the release, the red spot represents the flame in the original logo (coming out of My Pretty Pony's mouth, I guess), and the 96 is in reference to the year the club was founded, like Bayer Leverkeusen 04 and 1860 Munich.

I guess my problem is that PA went with mileage instead of sequential. But tehy still have mile markers on the side, they still have "Next XXXX, XX miles" all over the place and they still have "Formerly Exit X."

The change is almost four years old I think. Slight overkill to me.

Well, PA is the land of road signs. They have signs for every change that could possibly occur while driving, i.e. Passing Zone Begins, Passing Zone Ends, Slippery When Wet, Sharp Turn, Warning Signs Ahead, Warning Traffic Light Ahead, Deer Crossing, Women and Children Crossing, Children At Play, Exit 10 Feet Ahead, Low Bridge, High Bridge, Have You Noticed How Many Signs There Are In PA, Remove Sunglasses, Tunnel Ahead, Railroad Crossing, Fork In The Road, Amish Ahead, Drive On The Right, etc....

One of the best rants I ever experienced as a reporter was some small town council which had asked to be added to a mileage sign near Gettysburg. PennDOT turned them down. They were a crazy group to begin with, but the council president just frigging went off on a tirade during the meeting pointing out what other signs existed in the place they wanted theirs. It was glorious.

The Pa. signs I love the most are the ones that post the exact fines based on your speed. So if I'm doing 74 mph and I see it's the same fine as 79 mph, I can speed up :)

Edited to say: The most I've laughed today is reading through the Living in the Eighties thread. Lanky you really know how to start something. If I coud rep a whole thread, it'd be that one........ Rev, thanx for closing it before it got bad. This way the whole thing is funny.

    Alex is Andrew's replacement.

Remember the 1998 US Open Cup semifinal doubleheader in Virginia Beach? The last Hurricane Bonnie, if I recall, turned that into a mess.

Man, she was old. I can't ever see her without hearing Dan Ackroyd say (impersonating her voice) Save the liver .... The skit they did about her slicing off a finger and bleeding to death while preparing a turkey (I think) on the Julia's Kitchen set was one of the funniest early SNL skits. Always keep a phone in the kitchen in case you need to call 911 ...... Crap, damn phone is a prop.

    She was a cooking-on-TV pioneer.

United didn't play in the 1998 USOC because we were going to be playing in the Copa Merconorte (Alianza Lima, Deportivo Cali, and one other), before the Mexicans screwed us out of it. Therefore, I have no knowledge of a game that we were never going to play in anyway and wasn't on TV.

Just posted that same thought in BSSM. Blood was flying everywhere in that skit. :D

I just got asked to do an easel sign to go down by the Julia Child kitchen. She was a classy old lady who truly enjoyed life.

Bison (or anyone else!), if you're in the neighborhood and up to nothing -- I get off work at 4:30 and plan to head over to Summers for Cardiff v. Plymouth at 5 on the Setanta Pub Channel.

I would be up for this, but I've already got plans tonight. We'll certainly do it some other time.

It goes up as soon as they can get it printed and mounted...

The guys who worked taking her kitchen apart and putting it back together here are really bummed.

I need to remember to stay away from both the US Womens and US Mens News and "Analysis" forums.

There's no Analysis. Folks there are completely unfamiliar with either Occam's Razor or Mr. Spock. The leaps of logic, not to mention the astonishing ability to take things out of context boggles the mind. Reading comprehension in the USNT N&A forums is among the lowest.

I guess I miss having Mike and I be the moderators from hell. The tagline should read "check your brain at the door"

I can't speak for the women's board, but I stay far, far away from the USMNT N&A board for this exact reason. Unless I get linked to a funny threadjack.
